Title: SP111 tire change
Post by: Peter from Sch'dy on August 28, 2015, 06:33:00 AM
Changing the rear tire on brothers SP111 and when wheel removed found metal shavings and worn crown gear cover bolt heads. It appears as though the dish shaped flange covering the rubber shock block assy has been touching the bolts as if there was a spacer missing. Anybody ever seen this before?

Best,
Peter

Yes it's happened twice on mine. Need to loctite those 3 bolts in on the wheel.

Thanks, this was what happened. Was in a bit of a panic as a trip is planned soon.

Best,
Peter

My last event happened in Illinois on the trip to this year's National rally in New Hampshire. It stripped the threads one the bolt that was chewing up the rear drive. Tightened the other 2,removed the bad one and rode there and back. ...2 up!
Still waiting to be helicoiled.
