Might be in Missouri next weekend. Area between Cuba and Owensville. If I have an extra half day, anything unique or special I should see?

If you like holes in the ground, there's Meramec caverns. There is classic Mustang rebuilder somewhere there along I-44, Other than that I got nothing

A large chunk of the Mark Twain Natl Forest is just South of Cuba , and you could visit Mexico .

There is probably a waffle house somewhere close. If of course redneck people watching is your thing.

Hermann Missouri is 50 miles north of Cuba on Highway 19. Beautiful old German town on The Missouri River.

Ride up to Springfield IL for the Mile. Several of us are leaving Saturday morning from Springfield MO through Cuba and St Louis. The races are Saturday Night and Sunday Afternoon. We'll have an Italian lunch on The Hill on the way up.

Yes there is and they have the best pig ear sandwiches. I don't know if they have seal flipper pie.

Plenty of twisties between Cuba and Bon Terre to the southeast. Elephant rocks state park, and Johnson's shut ins state park is way cool, also taum Saulk mountian area is excellent riding its Missouri's highest point, lots and lots of hills and curves south of I-44. This is part of my playground.

I don't really know of much around there either.
Hermann and the wine area (don't laugh, Pat) is very pretty. The towns are the historical German types. Actually, now that I think about it- Missouri has a number of very nice historical German churches. I'm not suggesting a service- just that the architecture is interesting and the stained glass work is phenomenal.
Also, be careful if you are on a motorcycle. My wife and I were riding through that area about 10 years ago and encountered a swarm of some bug that was enormous. We got a couple of bruises from riding through them at speed.

This is my part of the country!
Do a winery visit in St. James or take Highway 19 from Cuba to Owensville..it has some nice twisties..then take highway P from Owensville to highway 50 for a deep country ride past a beautiful old brick church. I'm often riding a T3 or Ambo along that road. Right (east) on 50 takes you to the White Mule Winery...go back to 19 & take it north from highway 50 to the little town of Swiss & its famous meat market.... Absolutely the best Bratwurst selection in the freezer there..do the tasting first, then buy a few packages of your favorite to take back to grill! Farther North is Hermann with wineries and a old German town worth seeing. Lots of antique shops and a little park where you can rest and watch the Missouri River flow by. Big safe bridge there to cross the Missouri and the Katy trail is just a short ways north of the river. Park the Guzzi and take a nice hike there.
If you go south on 19 out of Cuba instead of north, the country gets bigger hills and deep country. 70 miles don there is Round Spring, which is impressive and great canoeing around Eminence!
