Before you believe that you should remember how the military uses them and note that the cops are jealous.

A lot of cops are military. Either ex or Guard/Reserve. Yeah, I trust them I do not.

Woah, that video gives me the sensation of vertigo... Holy crap.
I could NOT do that.

Because they are ex-military?
Surely not.

Got something against servicemen? Seems odd. I know quite a few of them and they're nothing to be scared of ... ?

I choose to ignore the paranoid comments. Get over it or move to Alaska.
As for the sunbather- Yikes. I was a sailboat rigger for years so have spent plenty of time in bosun's chairs at the masthead. However, the difference is that I'm tethered in and in some control. Just hanging out up there without any security would freak me right out.
-
These drones are beginning to piss me off. If I see one over my airport, I'll get some use out of that Marlin goose gun that we inherited from Dorcia's dad..

Just trying to figure it out. In my family, half the men (my dad, my brother, my eldest son, both grandfathers, all my uncles, etc) are veterans. To somehow figure that "ex-military" men have something "wrong" with them seems strange. Maybe everyone's family doesn't include veterans?

This is in no way intended to degrade our service men in any way. The difference in the mindset between military training and and police training is or at least should be polar opposites. We learned this lesson a long time ago from drawing ofn the military to insure order after natural disasters. In military training there is a targeted enemy and calling on a person trained to address enemy's to take action in such a way to bring order and resolve dispute does not always work for the best. Servicemen are to act immediately not gather information.

Military follows orders. Surely we can trust those giving orders........ :afro:

I guess he doesn't think Alaska has drones , ...or windmills , since you don't have electricity . Oklahoma is next in line for juice , right after you guys get it .

They carry guns, have short or no hair, and like to be in authority. What's not to fear?

I think it is the recent "militarization" of law enforcement that has some, including me, concerned. Used to be LEOs looked like regular Joes in nicely starched uniforms and funny hats. Now they not uncommonly look like storm troopers out on an offensive mission.

I've gotta agree. Giving surplus military stuff to the police hasn't been a good idea, IMHO.

Probably because the world, and the threats are changing. The cop walking a beat isn't going toast long these days.

The real question is what she'd do if I was a very bad boy.
As for the "militarization" of the police, I take it you mean police forces with AR-15s. I hate to break the news, but there is no more Mayberry RFD. The average bad guy has a double stack auto and an AR (easily the most popular rifle in the U.S.

Actually meant to be sarcastic. Sometimes I see things in the news that turns on the red warning indicator. I fully expect the cops will get weaponized drones, and will get around a warrant to come over a person's land. Slippery slope starting in North Dakota. Just my .02.

Jonathon , my guess is no matter how bad any of us old guys are capable of being , we can't match her
