Ok, the fancy one is priced as I would expect but an Audi A4 cost about $35K so I guess that is the market they are going after. Cool.

The first versions in The USA will be the higher-end Quadrifoglio versions. Sort of like what they did with the C4 "Launch Edition".
They won't be cheap, but they'll be good. 500+ bhp ? Yeah, baby! Yeah!

Yeah, it's too bad they didn't keep the lower profile look. We have a local dealer, I may need to stop by just for a look at the brochure.

My neighbor has one of the few 4C's imported to the US. Awesome little car.
I'd love to see this car hit the mark here. Maserati seems to have a solid toe in the market now. Maybe its Alfa's turn.

Yes. FIAT has determined to keep Alfa Romeo an Italian company.
That's why the FIAT/Mazda joint project that produced the Miata will not have an Alfa counterpart. The Italian version will be a FIAT/Abarth roadster.

Yup...it's sacrilege I say, but no worse than having the Passat now made in the U.S. vs. Germany, and Jettas and Bugs have been made in Puebla for a long time now. It softened up, became more Camry like, but the cost went down...so it appeals to more people. I do like the shape of the new Alfa, it's similar enough to its roots. A friend of mine has an Alfa 4 door 156 in Vienna, still running well, and you can directly see the lineage between the two.

Cars are made all over the world. I don't get the criticism if the car was designed and marketed in Italy as an Alfa.
Aren't cars mostly built by robots and have common components from all over the world? Italian engine, Asian electronics, American interior, German fuel system, assembly and machine tools from everywhere. And all of it quality audited to ensure no real difference as to where it is "assembled". Perhaps it's the idea of where it's "assembled"?

I used to travel to Italy for business quite a bit during a 10+ year period back in the 80's & 90's. I would fly into Rome or Milan and rent a car to get to my final destination (along the southern Adriatic coast) and 90% of the time, I would rent an Alfa Romeo sedan. The engines were very responsive, the handling was crisp, good suspension, etc.............. they were what I consider to be a "drivers car".
A little over a year ago, I bought a new Fiat Abarth coupe and added a Unichip so the car cranks out an honest 200+ horsepower and around 240 pounds of torque (the car only weighs around 2500 pounds). The little monster is a snarling beast. I only live around three miles from one of the most successful Fiat dealers in the USA and they have added Alfa Romeo to the dealership. Alfa only sells one model in the USA at the present time (the 4C) but I think that the USA will be a good market for Alfa. My local dealership is selling every 4C that they can get. An Alfa sedan should also sell well if it's priced correctly.

Yep , Poland is a heavy hitter in the business , as is Thailand . Unfortunately , the Yugo didn't benefit from this :laugh:

I just can't get excited about cars ...They all cost more than I want to spend...And every vehicle I've owned collects scrapes and dents behind my back. Ya open the hood and there's nothing to see but plastic covers ...HP under plastic covers? No way,power need to stand out on it's own, I want to be impressed when the hood is open by expensive things,tubes and a general look of intense machinery..I think Ferraris still have engines that look like engines? Do Alfa's ? Or have they turned over to the dark side....

Alfa is the car equivalent of Moto Guzzi: Not necessarily the best handling or the fastest of cars, but then engines have always been amazing.
I might have to get one of these, they are gorgeous cars and you KNOW the engine is going to be fantastic.

OK- thread blast from the recent past, but I just wrapped up my ownership "experience" with a 2003 BMW 325 wagon. I loved the little wagon, but at 150,000 it seemed to be disintegrating faster than I cared to keep up with. Replaced it with the Abarth. It's a 2013 with just 3,200 miles. It feels larger from inside than it looks from the outside. Seating position is higher than I'd expected and the ride- while firm- is much more planted than I had anticipated. It doesn't seem to get blown around on the highway a bit. This little thing is a blast! HP figure is about the same as the former BMW325, but the weight difference of 1,300lb is comically evident. The exhaust on this rocket-gocart sounds amazing. I've got to check out this Unichip. . . . or maybe I'm better off staying away from a temptation like that. 30 miles a day round trip for work & only my @$$ in the vehicle 99.3% of the time I think I'll be fine.

10 years ago the only car I'd seen since my Peugeot 405 mi16 that I really lusted was an '05 CTSV. It's been a great car but it's a little heavy for me at 4200 lbs.
Back in '72 I lusted after a GTV and couldn't buy an Alfa until I got my 79 spider new.
Now with the new Giulia there's finally an Alfa that I want and I may be able to get into at 60+ years but at $80,000 I might have to wait until my next lifetime.
