Saw this in CL.  Just in case anyone wants a "new " one !  I see changes, like bar-end mirrors, tail light, etc.

I wonder what happened to the mirrors.

prolly wanted to see behind him.  Actually the factory mirrors work great on my Suzuki Bandit.

I bought a 2002 Scura last year from a dealer. It had only 185 miles and I paid quite a bit less than that for an Ohlins-equipped bike. I've had no problems, no oil leaks, nothing wrong. Totally shocked - because I expected to have to replace a lot of seals.

So - my experience suggests that these bikes can sit well and be put back in service pretty easily. A brand-new V11 - it's a super cool experience. There can't be many left.

This is what I was somewhat lucky to have done a few weeks ago. I just recently got into these V11's and bought a very nice '02 LeMans a couple of months ago. Still wondered what a new one would be like. Found a one owner '03 LeMans with 3000 miles that was original. Even though it did have 3000 miles it was for all intents and purposes a new bike. I have that one tucked away next to my '02. I'm getting the chance to experience these bikes as if I'd bought it new.

I've put 1,000 miles on the '03 and all is well. The '02 of course is fully sorted with 20,000 miles and is a great rider/driver. It does have a leak from the timing cover gasket up near the top and runs down the right side of the engine...just needs wiped off after a ride. My '02 is one of the very few with good engine paint...no bubbles.

Great bike, I'd love to own one.  Even still, I think the seller is perhaps a dreamer.

I live near the bike- let me know if anyone here is interested and wants a drive by. The price is waaaay over the top, tho.

Yes, many 2002 V11's had timing cover leaks due to the paint on the sealing surfaces, remove the cover and lightly sand the sealing surface to remove the paint. Replace the gasket and you are golden. And Yes, your paint will bubble with heat and time. Even some of the early 03's had the peeling paint syndrome.

Wouldn't it be great if every new bike came with a crystal ball that would forewarn the buyer what to expect over the next 10 years of ownership. I guess this bike has one.

That's exactly the experience I had with my Scura and the V11LeMans.com site - pretty much everything was documented already.

As for the timing cover leak - that happened to me too. But I fixed it just by re-torqueing the bolts - no sanding/sealant required.
