On the bright (NPI) side, the light works.
Unfortunately, it signifies nothing instead of neutral.
This is my brother's Espresso e Grappa Norge. Gorgeous machine.
Poor Michael. He calls me with Guzzi wrenching questions under some sort of delusion that I might know. About electrical gremlins, too. Charming; near touching. An absolute waste of time. :rolleyes:
He doesn't even lurk here, so I said I'd ask. Here goes.

This isn't the usual that I've encountered, i.e., no green light when I know I am in neutral. It's the reverse.
On his, the light will come on even when he is in gear. And, even when he deploys the sidestand -- IN GEAR :shocked: -- the engine will not shut off. But, as he is in gear, letting out the clutch would lurch or stall the bike.
==========
Thoughts? Need more info?
Thanks.
Bill
Attorney-in-Fact for Brother Michael :wink:

Sounds like the contact on the neutral switch is bent and either making no contact or constant contact depending on how it is wired. That is assuming that it is an old school style mechanical switch like a relay, but if it is some newfangled electronic gizmo, I guess the switch will need replacing instead of a little judicious tweaking.

Probably a problem with the spade connector on the neutral light switch. It may of fallen off and be earthing against the gearbox casting or frame. Unfortunately it's an absolute bastard to get to. It lurks at the very back of the box above the output shaft and is masked by the frame as well as plastic and the footrest hanger plates/'Pork Chop'. I can't remember the exact difficulty of access on a Norge but I can tell you it'll be a pig to get to.

Hum,
All the White Norge's are working fine, must be the color choice?

Many thanks, Pete and RT. :bow:
I dressed that up in Billspeak and claimed entire credit for it. Not. :wink:
Seriously, very helpful; clearly a job for someone other than Michael ... or his brother.

I suppose if one is into lattes or similar frou frou drinks, white will do. :laugh:
