Similar incident happened a few years ago and the bourbon went into a river.
Before that down theroad at the Evan Williams facility a few of the aging barns and IIRC a bottling facility burned.

Yep, I know that lake.
Same place where the man drowned last year. Took a while, though, because he climbed out three times to pee ....

The apocalypse is truly upon us.

The epitome of alcohol abuse. There should be national a day of mourning.

Tee hee! Thank the gods it was only Jim Beam. Nothing important, like Maker's Mark or Jack Daniels.
-
Beam is really quite similar to Jack don't you think? Both Sour Mash aren't they?

Oh they are sour and mash , whatever that means . Love the descriptions of whiskey , fruity , smells like roses , very sweet . How the hell can ya tell , it all smells like methanol and dead mice

Hush your mouth! They couldn't be more different. Beam is like sweetened monkey piss compared to Jack.

:1:
Jack lacks sweetening.
-
You know somebody is going to use this as an excuse to further increase the already inflated cost of bourbon...

Cause that's what goes into it.

So why do the Scots get so much criticism for using iodine to disinfect the dead mice in theirs? The Irish just substitute peat for charcoal, that's dead simple.

The EPA is going to be pissed! :boozing:

OK if you say so, I'm really more of a Jamison's kinda guy. Or Tullemore Dew.

What is the ratio of methanol to dead mice in those two ?

Put me in the Jamesons' camp. All my life I have tried to avoid drinking anything with methanol in it. Methanol being wood alchohol,
more poisonous than the dead mice. I preferred my whisky to have ethanol in it. Ethanol BTW is also a better fuel for engines too.

That would be 'Jameson'. Philistines!

Can someone who claims to be 'eruditer' truly label others as philistines?
Besides, Irish whiskey has suffered devastation even worse than the potato blight, with only one firm in the entire country over 40 years old...
-
Meh, as long as it ain't rum being wasted. THAT would be tragic.
-
If you are trying to be eruditer it should be Jamesons', using the possessive form to describe who owns the Jameson distillary.
Considering how many on this forum talk about the disc breaks on their bike and a host of other malapropriate ways to describe things
you really are picky about a mis typed name.
BTW eruditer is one of those words that really is not even a word.

Clearly the irony isn't lost to your two towering intellects.

Irony magnates. I like that.

Oh right, the man erudes irons.
(Sorry about that)

The real question is, what kind of whiskey maker keeps whiskey in 800,000 gallon vats? The stuff is SUPPOSED to be stored in small casks, with all this lovely oak and charred wood interiors and lovingly handled about 60 gallons at a time, not processed in tanker lots like crude oil at a Texas refinery.
No wonder the stuff tastes like it does ..... their secret is out now .....

Sorta tastes like crude oil  In fact , light sweet crude is about as an accurate description as the whiskey makers employ to describe the "wonderfullness" of cheap ass whiskey with a fancy label  Heck , our local Guzzi rider's twice filtered Okie lightening ,hand delivered to the Okie camp out is WAY better than any commercial stuff . Just ask the young fella that stepped off the bluff at Talihina a few years ago after a couple of sips  He just kinda laughed after going whoomp .

good thing it wasn't this

I don't know anything about whiskey but it seems to me that someone was passing that around a campfire more than once, and it was being touted as being pretty smooth ....

Landis, I think all the whiskey is stored in oak barrels. My company makes the tooling that makes the barrels and I know some of the cooperages are making up to 800 barrels a shift. My understanding is when one barrel goes, they all follow quickly, hence the whole warehouse being destroyed. Not the first time this has happened.

The EPA is going to be pissed! :boozing:
The fish were by the sounds of it.
Actually, it did say the fish died, what it does NOT say it took four undertakers six hours just to get the grin off one fish's face!

Whiskey is foul stuff best reserved for desperate situations like hearing of bad news .....I found JB to be just that, foul....The solution to pollution is dilution...dump it in the river...Then have a shot of good Scotch or Irish
-
Rarely known fact. Scotch is aged in used bourbon barrels. The inside of the barrel is scrapped to get to clean wood. This is one of the reasons Scotch is aged longer than whiskey and bourbon. Takes longer for the process
