Does anyone here know, or would be willing to measure, the diameter of the inspection hole in the clutch housing of pre V-II V7 models? My interest in this number has nothing to do with the hole itself. I'm interested to know whether the rubber plug for this hole might be of the correct size to plug the open lower frame ends of my V7-II. The latter have a hole size of about 21 mm.

The inspection hole is (I'd say) 21mm but,
Concerning the plug:
It's a very soft plug held in place by virtue of the fact it's got a slot in the perimeter.
Plug does not look particularly suitable to bung the end of a pipe.

Could you use rubber test tube stoppers? Available in lots of sizes and easy to get.

Maybe I'm a bit obtuse, but I mgiht stop and consider whether plugging those open ends on the frame might trap moisture - and therefore allow hidden corrosion to occur more easily and quickly. Before closing off those holes, check if there are alternate venting points. Pursuit of the aesthetic might be understandable, but might also be unwise...

Went had a look what you mean.
You mean the holes at the rear end of the 2 frame sections under the engine.
Inspection Plug is is bit too big. Do those holes really need plugged? A tiny squirt of waxol or some grease on a bottle brush every not very often.
If you really must bung them you could just try making some bungs using a short length of copper pipe and some silicon sealant. Take ages to dry. If you fail you'd be surprised two old nozzle off silicon tubes will bung your holes just fine (waist not want not ;)

Thanks for all the replies. My interest is twofold. First, I just don't like the unfinished look of the open tube ends. True, they don't end bluntly and they are a bit rounded, but still, I think closing off the openings would look better. Therefore, "practical" solutions such as rubber lab stoppers and silicon tube nozzles don't much appeal to me. Second, these kinds of openings are very attractive to wasps, hornets, and the like looking for a place to set up housekeeping. I'd just as soon discourage them. I have wondered whether the closed off tubes would retain water, so I would prefer a closure that isn't completely air tight.
