Title: V50 for tube/stanchion hole...?
Post by: chrisk on September 09, 2015, 09:39:40 AM
Hi, I have two pairs of forks, one has new tubes BUT comparing them to the older pair they do not have a hole in it, see pic below.
I'm wondering if it's necessary, I'm assuming it is as its there, but as the forks use damper rods then in theory they do not use the oil rushing through the tube to assist damping, but I don't really know...
Thoughts?

I think I know the holes you mention. I thought they were needed to somewhat regulate/relieve some pressure in the lowers when dampening since that's just for lube area. I also searched a while ago on this topic as I was trying to figure out if the holes were supposed to face forward, backwards or sideways, but never came across anyone talking about those holes. I put mine sort facing to the sides - not sure if they are needed, so can't help you there.
