Title: Another Norge cold start issue
Post by: ppsfb88 on September 12, 2015, 08:13:40 AM
Hey everyone! I have a 2012 Norge that requires two or three stabs at the starter to start when cold. If I hold the starter on the first try it just turns over. Second try it will burble its way to a start.
Today it's been a week since I started it and took three tries.
After a start, it will fire up perfect.
I've checked valve clearance.
Balances TBs. Air screws closed on both and balanced perfect at 3-4000rpm on Morgan Carbtunes.
Reset tips
New battery
New factory air filter
Didn't put too much oil when I changed it
Engine temp sensor reads fine on GuzziDiag
I bought the bike 5 months ago with 19,000 miles. I've put 3000 on it, so I don't really know how it was before...maybe a Guzzi thing?
Wondering if it's stepper motor not opening properly on initial startup...strange for it to fire up perfect after its ran for a 1-2 seconds.

I have 20,000 miles on mine & it does the same thing. It seems to help if you give it a tiny amount of throttle.

Mine too.  I just crack the throttle ever so slightly and nurse it along for 60 secs and all is OK.
