Anyone know a good way to get the atf into the forks on a lemans 3 with the air shocks ? Forks are on the bike. Thx, Dave.

Support bike under sump, remove front wheel and mudguard so forks can be stroked independently, undo dampers from top of legs, drain fork by removing plug but don't move the fork while the plug is out, reinstall drain screw, push slider up and damper will slide up out of leg, get syringe and dribble oil slowly down damper. When oil tries to spill out of leg pull slider down until you hear fork gurgle air, then slowly lift it again and repeat until you have added the required amount of oil. Screw damper back into leg.
Repeat for other leg.
Alternatively take the forks to pieces and give them a proper seeing to and cleaning. They're older than dirt and probably have oysters living in them!

I never remove the front wheel if I just want to change the fork oil. Just put the bike on the center stand and drain both legs, pressing the forks down helps to get all the oil out.
Then do one leg at a time (don`t loosen both caps at the same time !! :copcar:) Now, with the front resting on one leg, the bikes weight will press the loose cap up to allow for the oil filling.
May not be the "right" way, but works for me.

Another, quicker way to do it:
Put a block under the sump and unscrew the damper caps from the fork legs (bike sits on block). Pull one drain screw and drain old oil (if any) then get a big syringe. 60mL syringes (maybe larger) are available at farm stores. Fit a thick o-ring or a small piece of rubber hose over the nipple.

Fill the syringe with ATF and inject the ATF in the drain hole. Pull the syringe out and quickly reinsert the drain screw. A little ATF will leak out but not much. Repeat until you have the volume you want. It's just to lube the sliding parts so exact volume is not critical and if careful you will be within a few mL. Much quicker than dribbling down under the damper cap - probably save more than 1/2 an hour standing around.
Tighten the dampers back down and you're done.
