Others have it worse than me,so I'm not complaining, but tomorrow I have a minimal evasive hernia operation.
No slicing and dicing now-a-days, just three small holes and a mesh patch kit. Overnite in the 'krankenhaus' then out the next day. A week off work.
Then, I will have a gall stone removed. Same procedure as above.
Then, I will go to Australia and NZ for 4 weeks for vacation. All in all, about 2 months off work, paid!
Sometimes socialized medicine works...

It does seem to work. You look better now than when you lived in Phoenix. Being married probably has nothing to do with it.
Good luck on the recovery. Enjoy the action - better share some pictures!

Best of luck to you. However, I do hope that your hernia isn't evasive, even minimally. Perhaps you mean that the operation isn't invasive, even minimally?
To paraphrase Winston Churchill, "Socialized medicine is the worst kind of medicine, except for all the other kinds of medicine."

Tom, just remembered your email and replied. Looking forward to meeting you.

I have one of those evil things just below my zyphoid process. I have to put my fingers on it and hold things in when I do crunches.
I think mine might be a leftover from the deer crash, I had a lot of torso damage from that.
-
Good luck, Tom!

get well. One of my sons had the mesh done to him and it's worked well
-
I had a slice-and-dice job without a mesh on the left in 1981 and a mesh job on the right in 2001. Both are holding up well. (I also had a center job in 2000, prostatectomy, but that's a different story entirely.)
-
Good luck! I had a mesh job done almost two years back myself. Very glad I got it done. First week is difficult. After that it become much easier and you'll get back to normal.

Lucky you. I have been making boat and house payments for a number of doctors for close to a year now. Just today they are scheduling some real 'work'.

What do you mean you'll "have a gallstone removed"?? I lost a freaking whole gallbladder because of those things, don't tell me they can just f*@#king remove them now?!
-
Best of luck to you and your surgeon.
-
All the best. I have had two mesh jobs done. Both have been holding up well with no problems. Beats lying on my back desperately trying to stuff my bowel back before the muscle spasms got too bad to allow it.

Sorry, yes, the whole thing comes out/off. I will speak to my doctor about it tomorrow when I go in to talk about what I just had done. I have a very large stone the doctors are concerned about.
So, all is good. Home the next day, and not taking any pain pills....yet. Really tired though.

Tom, I had a double hernia removed with the mesh right under my bellybutton about a year ago. Easiest surgery yet. It was that or when it ruptures.....be dead in a day or 2. Never had a gall stone. Think your diet has something to do with that.
-
I had the mesh on a hernia above the bellybutton 23 years ago and have had no issues except for the less than perfect scar. On the plus side when someone asks '' what happened there?'' I always answer ''knife fight''.

Well, my belly button will never look the way it used to, but as long as nothing squirts out from that area.............I'm OK wit dat.
