Title: fitting 77 LeMans faring
Post by: steven c on September 17, 2015, 08:40:03 AM
I want to put the stock headlight and faring on my 850 LeMans, but for some reason it doesn't seem to fit. Should it be able to just go on with the headlight on or do you have to take off the front front half put on the faring the mount the headlight unit? I have a oem faring and nothing seems to work the headlight seems to big.

The hole in the euro fairing was smaller than the US bikes which had a wider(?) headlamp ring from what I gather. Measure the diameter of the fairing hole  and post it so the other folks with LM1's may be able to check against theirs. Mine is off at the painters so I cant help

Has that fairing been mounted on the 850 prior and it just does not seem to fit or, as guzzista suggests, is the fairing meant for a different head light diamater...?  The US variant had the larger, ugly (my opinion) headlight ring protruding past the fairing...

If this one came off this LeMans, assemble the small brackets onto the inside of the fairing first, you would never be able to attach the screws otherwise.

Best,
Rob

The headlight on your bike in your avatar doesn't look stock. It might possibly be too large in diameter? The original fairing should just slip over the headlight. Install the windscreen after the fairing is on.

No the head light on the bike is not stock, I'm going back to the oem look with the ugly head light protruding, the bike did not come with the fairing as it was crashed and burned when I got it. The hole in the used faring I bought is 7 3/4".
