Probably the only way Dylan is gonna show up in Minnesota  Seriously , that is cool :thumb:
Dusty
Um, He lives here part of the year in Independence, Mn.
-
Just be glad he wasn't singing...
-
So Dylan and Minnesota kissed and made up ? Amazing how getting a few years older will make a person change perspective. Years ago he said he would never return , glad he came home :thumb:
Dusty
He's had the compound/ranch for a long time.. it's all well fenced/protected and you'd never know who was behind the curtain..

Poet of my generation - cool tribute.

Looks like a little guy....how tall is he?
-
Dig me some Dylan for sure, the three or four times I've seen him he's never come out from behind the keyboard, kinda gave me the feeling he was a little paranoid. Most defiantly the poet of our time. I really like his stuff with the Traveling Wilbury's
-
Was it on 4th Street? Are you positive?
-
Looks like he was "Blowin' in the wind".

For sure his voice is gone, but I'm not sure if there ever was or ever will be a better lyricist. Despite, and maybe because of the state of his voice, I do enjoy his recent Christmas album. The dogs aren't quite sure what to think.

I'm not sure his voice was ever there.. he's not a crooner after all. Just the same, there are very few that can sing a lyric and make you feel what he's saying. Many have covered his songs, few make you listen and take note. One of the great American artists, IMHO.

Dylan was really a blues singer , which is pretty strange for a fella from Hibbing MN whose real last name is Zimmerman
Dusty
Gary Puckett is from Hibbing too! He could sing a bit better than Dylan but his songs weren't as deep.
-
A few years back I saw what appeared to be a good bio film about Bob Dylan...The film made documented statements about Dylan creating his image to be noticed .. And no so much that he cared about social themes that may be in his songs...

His songs were creepy -- all about pining away over underage girls.
His band "Union Gap" was named after a small town north of Yakima, WA.
I saw Snoopy in St Paul last month. Everywhere in St. Paul. Clearly more famouser than Dylan.

Like 'Just be glad guzzi isn't making a sport bike...'
Let's agree to disagree
Tangled up in blue

Gary Puckett's mother worked for me for around 12 years when I lived in CA. At that time, Gary had lost his fame and was playing in local joints just to survive. I went to hear his great vocals many times. Gary didn't write any of those songs that were about younger girls........he just sang them. He was a pretty nice guy and very down to earth. His mother raised him well.

"I've been trying to get as far away from myself as I can"
"People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed"
as to the voice, I think it peaked at Nashville Skyline now He sounds like the new Howlin Wolf to me and I never heard anyone blast him..
-
Saw Dylan about 3 years ago, and though his voice is pretty ragged, there were no "backup" singers, he did all the vocals all night. A lot of these older bands can't say the same.
Anybody ever seen the Martin Scorsese documentary on Dylan? I'll never forget a scene,a live interview circa 1965. A chubby, coke bottle glassed, young journalist is insisting Dylan explain to him the deeper meaning of the Triumph motorcycle t-shirt that Dylans wearing on the cover of "Highway 61 Revisited". Dylan is clearly bemused, I can see the look in his eye he'd love to shout, "It's just a motorcycle t-shirt". He finally just says something like, " Well everybody likes motorcycles to some degree."
And then of course there is the soundtrack to Easyrider, "If my thought dreams could be seen
They'd probably put my head
In a guillotine"
