Title: Triumph Trophy
Post by: Waltr on September 19, 2015, 11:58:05 AM
I have wondered for awhile why there was so little talk of the new Triumph Sport Touring bike.  I would like valve adjustment that I could do but the bike supposedly does well, some people claim it is two up Goldwing sport touring bike only to say os is very comfortable.   Anybody here ride one?

I have ridden the Tiger with the 1200 triple, it was marvelous. The trophy had serious teething problems with the electronics, it kinda fell on its face. Very poor sales

One of the guys on the Honda NT forum got one and loves it.

Why not a lot of talk about it?  Cause most of the sport touring crowd are still gaga over the FJR.  :)

I test rode a Trophy before I bought my Norge. Honestly it felt like I was riding a sewing machine. I don't get what it is about the triple people love. It didnt feel very heavy but it is very wide, ride is good and I believe it is overpriced for what it is.

And too, with maybe the lone exception of the RT all traditionally styled and marketed "sport touring" bikes are being marginalized on the market by the exponentially growing street ADV segement.

I've got a nice "street ADV segment" bike now, but my next one will be a "traditional" sport-tourer like the Trophy.

So that's one ....

The thing about Triples is the sound when they really run. I really likes the 1200 4 cyl Trophy, and engine that was pure joy to use. I put a 21 tooth counter shaft sprocket on it and you could ride across the country in 3rd and never touch the other speeds.

I was tempted to get one but sitting in the same showroom as the Norge, it just wasn't going to happen.
