Title: Gearbox clutch adjust V7 II

When should I think about adjustment at the transmission?

I had to adjust the clutch lever again yesterday. Almost got
stuck at a light. This is the second or third time after taking
delivery. I can see some stretching, but not in less than 200
miles.

Sounds like something may be loose.  Or, as happened to me on my '13 Stone, the cable itself might be defective.  On mine, it was a damaged end crimp at the handlebar end.  As the individual wires let go one by one, the cable would get slightly longer, until the end came off completely (fortunately, in my driveway as I returned from a longish ride).

If memory serves, the clutch arm on the v7ii is easy to reach. When you press the cable end of the arm forward, how much travel is there before it contacts the outer body (using the big block terminology)? You just need *some* distance there.

On my '14 v7, I was able to find a happy spot by sticking my finger under the righthand side cover until I felt the clutch arm. Press it forward to overcome spring pressure until it touches the outer body. Minimize the gap there, just ensure there is a gap. Repeat when the bike is warmed up, and "bob's your uncle." I found it very easy to have too much free play when only using the feel at the lever to adjust freeplay.
