Will an aftermarket muffler (Mistral) from a 4-valve Norge fit the newer 8-valve Norge??
-
David, the pipes use the same gasket to connect to the centre pipe but the 8V uses a 'Collostomy Bag' with the Cat Con in and the 4V just has a centre pipe and the angles *Look* to be wrong in the drawings.
I can't post pics at the moment because with the latest Apple upgrade Flickr has had a cow but PM me your email addy and I can send you a couple of screenshots of the parts site of you want.

Yes, I've seen the OEM parts fiche. Thanks.
The muffler attachment looks similar with an elbow connection. Also, several of the aftermarket suppliers seem to list one muffler to fit all Norge models, 4V-8V.
I have someone with an 8V and access to a 4V muffler and I was just trying to help him out.
An ancillary concern is the need to revise the fuel mapping to deal with popping and other problems.

Well in that case the angles may be the same. Ipso facto the pipe will fit.
As to tuning it? Many options from the simplistic and expensive to the very cheap but requiring thought and no 'Magic Bullet'. Best to opt for a system that allows acces to all the adjustable parameters without the necessity of hacking up the loom and only fiddling with the main fuel map but you pays yer money and yer takes yer choices.

Yes, well, this guy is totally non-mechanical and I do not want to become involved in tuning his bike for him. I know of no one else locally who could do it. Hence, I am issuing some warnings to him and, if he sails into those waters, it's totally on him.
If this was my own bike, I'd take care of it.
