Title: More Changes at Riders Hill in Dahlonega GA
Post by: leafman60 on September 30, 2015, 06:40:58 AM
I recently learned that Ian has parted ways with the dealership and moved on to work with MV Agusta.

Ian had been there since the beginning and was the reigning High-Tech man in the shop.  Yes, he tended to specialize in the multi-cylinder MV's.

With Steve gone and now Ian, I guess they have an all-new group of shop people in the house.

I suspected that he was gone because their new website that just came online recently didn't list Ian as one of their techs.  I bought two new bikes from RH (Griso & Aprilia Tuono) Steve did the PDI on the Griso and Ian did the PDI on the Aprilia.  Both are very good mechanics/techs.

Was up there this past weekend talking with the owner and he said the new tech a pretty talented guy who was comfortable working on a wider variety of different brands and exotics.

Yes,

Ian left several months ago. He's a corporate hack now.
He's gone a long way from when I used to nag at him to quit teaching and get a job at that new cycle shop by his house.  :thumb: to you Ian wherever you my be.

I have spent some time talking to the 'new guy' at Riders Hill, Dean Graham.
Dean has a lot of years under his belt working on airhead Beemers at BoxerWorks and Ducatis at NPR Ducati. Even some Guzzis when he was there. I am sure he is a pretty good mechanic.

Of course, dealing with Piaggio is a new type of headache in itself.  (http://wildguzzi.com/forum/Smileys/default/Beating_A_Dead_Horse_by_livius.gif)

It sounds like he will do a good job.

He also rides a Suzuki Titan to work sometimes. He should fit in with the odd Guzzi crowd.

I never hear anything but glowing praise for RH.  It is a cool location and a nice setup. I had a very poor service experience there tho. This was in the post-GuzziSteve era, no idea who the tech was.

Not bashing, but just saying.
No one bats .1000 but my experience was bad enough that I haven't returned... and they are 1 of 2 dealers within 300miles of me. I hear I'm in a very small minority... So YMMV

I'm in the same boat with Rose Farms. Don't feel like the Lone Stranger.  :thumb:

+1 on Dean Graham.  Brilliant mechanic.  His experience and breadth of knowledge extend well beyond what has already been mentioned.  Plus, bless his heart, he is a weirdo.  Cheers Dean. :boozing:
