Saw this on Amazon Prime -- a 90-minute documentary on the birth of the Israeli air force in 1948, using smuggled war-surplus C-46s and Czech-built Me-109s, flown by American, Israeli and a few British pilots, against Egypt's Spitfires.  Fascinating.

Thanks, I'll watch it. If you like that story- try "The Lion's Gate" by Steven Pressfield. It's an oral history of the six day war. Tremendous. Wonderful accounts by citizen soldiers about what they had to go through in terms of training. Amazingly enough, little or no vitriol or chest beating.

Watched it a few weeks ago. Highly recommended! I think the underdog/ingenuity aspect will appeal to this crowd. It's on Netflix too.
