I have a 2006 Breva 1100, while riding, the bike suddenly lost total power. The throttle body linkage was the culprit. The plastic cup end of the rod coming from the right side of the tb that fits over the knob end of the left side of the tb came apart. I was able to jury rig it using plastic ties to get home. No big deal, just look up the linkage parts in the parts manual and order them. WRONG! I called Harpers and they said that the linkage was not an item MG sells and that it only comes with the throttle body, which I don't need and is terribly expensive (over $1,000). Has any one else had this problem and have you found a solution?
I could go on a rant about the POS linkage or rant about the fact that MG does no have available parts the bikes that they sell, but then I'd be :Beating_A_Dead_Hors e_by_liviu

I had exactly this problem on my 2008 Norge. What you need to do is find your local hot rod shop, where you can buy a 7" rod with reversed threads, i.e., standard at one end, reversed at the other. They will also have really neat ends for those rods, called Heim joints, - you need one standard and one with left hand threads on the collar that will attach to that rod. Finally you need one standard nut and one left hand thread nut for the rod, to lock things down. The Heim joints may need lock nuts to ensure they stay in place after installation.
Most of all, you need a shop with a very good, very conscientious machinist.
He or she will carefully measure the cup center to cup center distance of your old rod. Probably three or four times just to be sure. Then, they'll drill out the existing connection points on your throttle body arm where the current rod connects. Again, this drilling must be carefully down to stay on center for the connection points. Finally, they'll adjust your new rod and the Heim joints to exactly (and it must be exactly) the same distance as the previous ones, install the Heim joints to the throttle body linkage arms, and then check it all again.
Finally, the throttle bodies should be balanced and the TPS reset. Make sure that if this is done by someone other than the machinist, the tech knows what you have just done. Even the most careful installation may require a small tweak to the rod length (thus the opposing threads) to get the range back to normal, so that balancing the TBs is not an extreme adjustment.

I should also have noted - this linkage rod is right up there on a level with the so-called 'sacred screw', and should not be messed with without very good reason, such as wear in the connector cup causing it to fall off! :wink:

Isn't just the left throttle stop the 'sacred screw'. I thought it was OK to adjust the linkage to the right side.
