Most of the mufflers I see for later Guzzi's are thinner megaphone/reversed megaphone types. Agostini (and others) make larger what are refereed to as can mufflers. I don't expect much of a performance advantage but has anyone heard a late model 8V with one of these exhausts that would like to comment on the sound?

I heard an 8V with automotive dual 'cherry bombs'...not good. Then another with Super Traps...better, but not great.
My 1100 with a Mistral can without DB is fantastic (maintain stock S-pipe) http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=26_105&products_id=1683
It's not obnoxious, sound great, and with some tuning doesn't pop on overrun. I doubt you will get much performance gain, but you almost 100% need to remap with GuzziDiag.

I installed a GPR on an 8V Norge, it sounded OK.

Have a look at QD an Italian brand.
Great sound and well made but don't expect any performance gain (apart from weight) as it is all in the mapping.

I installed an Agostini muffler on my Norge. With the DB killer in place, the sound was muted but better than stock. With the DB killer removed, the sound was glorious! Not too loud, but loud enough so you could hear it over the wind and tire noise of cars around you. Think manly and authoritative.
My Norge ran well with or without the DB killer (certainly as well as with the stock muffler).

I got a set of Agos installed on the 1400 Eldo Friday night. They sound great. I ran around some Saturday and then a lot Sunday. Saturday was with the DB killers removed. Way too loud to suit me. Art said he could hear me when we were on I-90 and I was 6 car lengths behind him. Sunday was with the DB killers in. Sounds good. Still much healthier than stock and I don't think the neighbors will come after me with pitch forks either.

edit: I might add 28 pounds of weight savings over the stock mufflers.

Exactly as I expected the large body mufflers sound better and deeper.

I saw a gently used one of those on fleabay for $200 the other day. Might still be there?

The nicest can for a Griso 8V in my opinion is the Guzzitech . Looks almost stock but not . Sounds awesome . VERY well made..

Mistral Stainless Conical from MG Cycle on my 2012 Norge 8V; sounds great. I prefer without the db killer ... gives it a nice growl without waking the neighbours :wink:
