Does any one here own this bike, or know any history about it? My son is interested in it, and we are about 4 hours away. It looks like a fair price, what is the groups opinion?

My guess it's an 850T with sport stuff put on it, it has T foot pegs, gauges, heads and at least the right foot control. But, the V7 Sport stuff is worth a bit, headlight, headlight ears, tank, tool boxes.. I can't make out the read fender it looks like a T fender. Go for it!

My opinion is that it's an 850T bitsa bike with a V7 tank and side covers. If the frame# was verifiable as a V7 it would change my opinion. But I don't think it's a "fine example of the V7 Sport" as the ad states since it has NOTHING of the V7 engine, wheels, forks, etc that makes it a V7.
Is it worth $4500? I can't do that math for you, but IMO no 850 Tonti daily driver is worth that. If you're a collector, maybe, but this thing isn't collectable by any stretch. If you're looking for a driver, you can get full disk brakes and 35% more engine for $1k less with any 1100cc Tonti.

If the frame tag has the original correct tag (though this could easily be faked) and the matching title then I think it's a good deal. The tool boxes, tank, headlight and headlight ears are worth a couple bucks on their own, clean it up and fit a big bore kit on it and ride it.

I spoke to the guy selling the bike. He is not the owner, he is a guy that has a bike repair shop in phoenix, and is selling it for the owner. He doesnt know much about it at all. My son has been wanting an old cafe Guzzi, and this may be a cool project to play around with.
If its still available, I may go up and take a look at it Saturday. Does anyone know if chrome cylinder bores are an issue to look out for with that engine?

Not sure if classifieds are ok but I'm selling a nice V7 sport vin number 31833 Some of you may have seen my brief posting in Phoenix craigs but since then I have got the iriginal engine case to go along with the matching numbers bike and title .
Ten years ago we swapped in a 850 T3 motor and duel disk being a riders bike and not a show piece but anyway it's a clean , good running low miles V7 sport w clean title . Call for more info . Bike is located in Tucson AZ but can be delivered to southern Cali or I have a commercial spot for shippers to pick up from
Bike comes with the original 750 but has in it the 850 t3.

I spoke to him when the ad came out. He said he found the original cases. I asked for the engine and frame numbers but never heard back. Been busy so I have reached out to him since. Still a pretty good deal

I spoke on the phone to the guy selling the bike( he is not the owner) and he told me what the vin #is, and it was 4 numbers, there were not any letters before the number, shouldnt it have a VK in front of the VIN if its a real V7 sport?

Mine is stamped 32170, Nov. 1972 on the frame tag, VK32170 on the engine. Steering head next to tag stamped DGM 9104 OM.

It's an 850 motor. Not the original motor.
He has the original cases only. You would have to piece together the remainder of a 750S motor.

I'd use the original engine case to build a mildly tuned 949 - 78 mm stroke crank, 88 mm Gilardonis, B10 cam, Eldo heads, VHB30s. Would look original on the outside but have a little extra power.

Also, the V7 Sport/750S crank is one of a kind. It's the only 70mm stroke crank that fits an alternator.

In case some of you folks were following this thread....I spoke to the seller this AM, he sent me a pic of the title, it does not have the VK letters in front of the number . It shows 37833 only description 1973 MOG the frame tag on the steering head shows 31833 only, manufact. date shows 1972 the extra engine case he has does show VK *31833* the asterixes are "stars" on the engine case. Either way, the Arizona title, vin# ,and the actual vin on the bike are different, I think they thought the 1 was a 7 when they got the AZ title. I dont know how much of a mess that would cause at DMV if someone buys the bike, and tries to transfer title. I just thought I would give folks here a heads up, in case anyone here has been looking at that bike.

sounds like an original v7 bike. I would take a chance on it if I had funds. People make mistakes, and I'm sure in 72 there were more available "treats" to encourage mistakes

I can see where a "mistake" could take place on the title transfer, 1 number being off, but Wouldnt it have the VK letters in front of the vin # on the steering stem if it was a real V 7s ? I couldnt find any info on that in Guzziology, but I didnt really look all that hard. Maybe some folks that know more will chime in

I've owned mine since new and it has no "VK" on the steering stem tag, but does have "VK" before the matching numbers stamped on the engine. I'm sure mine is a real V7 Sport. One thing though, the "VK" is a bit more lightly stamped than the numbers so difficult to see, but definitely there.

In Maryland, it's easy to get that corrected. Take the bike to the MVA, fill out a form, clerk comes out and verifies the VIN, signs and submits the form and a corrected title shows up about 10 days later.

First off in Europe, the frame and engine numbers didn't match. FWIU, only the bikes exported to the US got matching numbers and it was always the engine number. I've never seen the VK stamped into the number plate, or on a title. On a V7 Sport, stamped into the steering head you'll see "MOTO GUZZI, VK then a star then about 1.5 inch gap then another star", this is where the frame number would have been stamped if the bike remained in Europe. The problem is, all that is probably under the number plate. What you will be to see is "DMG 9104 0M" That number as far as i know is on all V7 Sport frame and no others. I have 3 V7 Sport frames in the shop and they are all stamped the same.
Correcting the title should not be an issue, in Illinois, you need to bring the bike to a police station and have an inspection form filled out with the correct numbers.
IMO, that is in fact a real V7 Sport, the VIN VK31833 was not on my registry, it is now.
