They were set to play in Fort Lauderdale on November 12th. Does anyone know if they are cancelling any dates? :boozing:

In high school we had a big bonfire and all-city dance for homecoming every year.  3DN played for us in 70-71-thereabouts.  The music was piped over the outdoor campus speakers.  "Light My Fire" was played continuously when the band wasn't working on account of the "burning man"-sized bonfire.  And when they weren't singing, they came down and mixed with the kids.

Hoyt Axton was the song writer for several of their number 1 songs. Hoyt was a friend of mine, we worked on a movie together.

ALL  of their hits were covers. "Joy to the World" was a Hoyt Axton song. Heard that on the radio this morning, I never knew.

I miss the music of that era. Top 40 country plays in the shop, Christ it's terrible. And they're covering old rock songs, not a shred of originality. I know there's good stuff out there,

Saw them live at the first Denver Pop Festival back in 1969. Their cover of Chest Fever outdid the Band's version. Also thought they put on a better show than Hendrix that night.

i remember at 9 or 10 years old, on the playground swings, pumping my legs hard to get higher and faster, singing, Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog!, at the top of my lungs.  Great era in music, great performers and writers.

Hoyt Axton sold "Ive never been to Spain" to Elvis Presley who recorded it first. Hoyt's mother wrote a song that Elvis made famous. "Heartbreak hotel" She wrote it in Hoyts home town of Ada Oklahoma.

Great performers , though I don't think they wrote much . Left that to the pros like Hoyt Axton .

Speaking of Hoyt , contrary to a long serving R&R myth , he did not pen "the pusher "

Yeah , I know about all of that . However , he was interviewed by the Morning Zoo , you know , Phil and Brent in Tulsa (think Roy D Mercer) several years ago , and they were going down the list of songs he had written . When they got to "the pusher" Hoyt just kinda laughed and said , "well , I didn't actually write that " . Dunno.

Wikipedia gloves Hoyt the credit, wonder what the whole story's about?

Hoyt is given the songwriting credit for the song , but my understanding is it was for legal/contractual reasons . Jagger/Richards are given the credit for Jumping Jack Flash , in reality Bill Wyman wrote the song with help from Mick Taylor , Jagger finally admitted that a few years ago . More than likely John Kay and the keyboard player from Steppenwolf actually wrote the song , as it showed up on an album before the movie came out . The music biz is rife with stories like this .
