Title: sidestand disconnect - yes, I know it's been explained before but...
Post by: Eric on October 25, 2015, 09:57:55 AM
... I still can't find out how to do it. Temporary only to troubleshoot so no need to tell me it's a bad idea. I already know.  Here's what I see under the 750 breva. Is this a molded piece or a plug I can force out? If it's the latter, is this were I try and jump the two wires? There seems to be no obvious wires to cut and connect.

But if I follow the line up (I think) I come to this connector. Can I jump it here and, if so, how do I do it?

Do you have a multi-meter? I'm going to assume you do.

I'm only familiar with the V11 Sports, but I think the switches must be similar.

On mine, the sidestand switch comes with a long wire and plug like the one you found. You should be able to separate that and plug a jumper cable across the two pins on the side that remains attached to the loom.

You can test resistance of the sidestand switch after you unplug it. Then you'll know for sure if you have the right connector - if you see a change in resistance when you deploy/retract the sidestand. If I remember right, you should have no resistance with the sidestand up (current can flow).

Unplug it.  Bike doesn't start?  Then jump it.

My CalVin just needed unplugged I believe.

Are you referring to plug in the top picture?

Here's the switch, wire and plug from an 02 V11.  I assume (but do not know) that it's similar on other models.  On the V11, this plug is under the tank, not by the battery as in your picture. Again - the Breva could be different.

I wrote a short essay about disconnecting the side stand switch for 750cc Guzzis:  https://www.flickr.com/photos/sign216/albums/72157625678641324 (https://www.flickr.com/photos/sign216/albums/72157625678641324)
