Around 4 months ago I decided to check this out. Bought Turmeric / Cu-cumin caplets and started taking one a day. Bought at Wally World. It took around 2 1/2 months but less joint pain. I believe it seems to work for me but I have a strange desire buy a sitar.

If you watch about 4 hours of non-stop Bollywood films, this desire will probably stop.

I make a pretty mean Moroccan Chicken.. does that help?

That side effect isn't mentioned in any official literature  Any gastrointestinal effects ?

Excellent dish! My wife makes something called Marrakesh another Moroccan food. Turmeric is a often used spice for us...

Eat lots of yellow mustard. It helps with joint pain and muscle spasm cramps because of the turmeric in it,
But even better is "Bragg raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar". I drink it every day and no longer am plagued by cramps.
It can be taken neat, but if you find that too invigorating, just pour a half ounce into a cup or glass and add cranberry juice or apple juice or any fruit juice that tastes good when tart. I drink it several times a day and find it to be the greatest thirst quencher ever.
I used to be plagued by painful hamstring and calf muscle cramps because of the nerve degeneration in my legs.
With Bragg vinegar and mustard, that is history now. In fact I think it contributes to an all over feeling of health.

I make a lot of homemade soup for a quick noon microwaveable meal for when I am busy. Just sprinkle a dash on top of the kettle before it's done. Just use the stuff from the grocery store spice section. Sprinkling it on your head may do just as much good, but it seems to help me, might even be just psycologically.
-
I take 2 capsules a day. Can't say for sure if it's helping for aches and pains but there's other benefits too as it is an antioxidant.

Good advice. Swallow two tablespoons of plain yellow mustard after hard work/exercise and you won't have any cramps. Sure works for me.

Costco carries a Turmeric or cur cumin product for inflammation. I have not tried the Cosco brand ....just saw it and read it the other day. Probably will pick some up
I sometimes take it for recovery after long runs triathlons etc.

pickling spice

Often used in Middle Eastern dishes. Mix it in the rice will add flavour. Also mix it in stews. Downside is that is stains everything yellow it comes in contact with - utensils, dishes, counter tops, etc.

Better yet, drink pickle brine. Really.

I like the flavor in recipes but don't eat it much. I see it mentioned in herbal medicines often.

I'm no doctor, but a good friend tells me that high school football teams in his area of Ohio have been using pickle brine for relief from muscle soreness, cramping and dehydration following practice. Old wive's tale? Maybe, maybe not. Open the fridge and try it out. Just don't let your family catch you drinking straight from the jar.

Well if you read the stuff in the above addresses you will find that it is most likely the vinegar in the pickle juice that cures the cramp. They even did a comparison between pickle juice and vinegar and the vinegar won.
So take a big breath of air, (your'e not going to get another for a while), and a big gulp of Bragg apple cider vinegar,
or balsamic vinegar, to get rid of a cramp.

Don't know about Turmeric effects I should probably try it - I'm on Naproxen (doctor said take 2 a day, but find one a day relieves all aches and pains) Not been on them for long but wonder if any risks may be need to try turmeric and cod liver oil.

Dusty, I use turmeric at the end of the month when I can't afford to buy saffron. Yes, it will turn everything yeller.
I no longer have cramps as I can now play peek a boo with my grandkids for 5 minutes with no pain.

I take one pill, two times a day (morning and evening). Been doing this for about three months now. Before taking tumeric, I had trouble sleeping as the pain in my right shoulder would keep me up (fell directly on it about seven years ago). I now sleep like a baby most nights - especially after a busy day at work. As an add on, I have been going to physical therapy for the last six months (my flexibility is better), but I really feel it's the tumeric that has addressed the pain issue to my satisfaction. Oh yeah, one more thing - about three years ago my doctor put me on fish oil for cholesterol. It helped, but it's real benefit (at least in my opinion), is that my joints really feel good. I'm 52 and my job is rather physical.

No side effects that I notice. As far as the vinegar is concerned it is a alkalizer to the body. That helps with digestion and acid reflux. I have trained myself to take Cayenne pepper pills also and cayenne is one of the body's strongest alkalizer.

Like many things that big pharm is not allowed to patent, turmeric DOES have health benefits. Vinegar is the same, along with ginseng, various pepper plants and other herbs that big pharm has tried and failed to get patents on.
Hell, if they could get away with it they would hold a patent on air and water.
There are real reasons that people have been using herbal remedies for tens of thousands of years and it's not superstition. It's because they actually work. By the way, if you are constipated, chew the bark of the cascara tree.
The indians didn't call it the chittum tree for nothing. It makes you chittum big time.

Great. Now I want Lamb tagine with couscous

If I get a cramp I eat a banana(potassium).

Long as I eat vegetables every day I don't get constipated. Spinach is really good for this.

I've been buying the CVS store brand for four of the vitamin / mineral supplements that I take on a daily basis. I'm guessing that you also have their store card. On my last purchase of magnesium and turmeric I got the 2 for 1 and I got $5 off as my purchase was over $20. I make sure to scan my card at their coupon kiosk when I first walk in. It's great to save $!
