Guys,
I am going to have to use a trickle charger down the road
for charging my V7 II Stone, but I'm having a problem figuring
out how to do that.
Am I going to have to take the right side cover off to access
the battery? On my V7 Classic, the battery was behind the left
side cover and I could get the connectors onto the battery by
squeezing them in between the top of the side cover and the frame.
Anyone have any ideas?

Install a batter tender lead, route out from behind the cover. Plug in anytime you need to.
Easy Peasy.
Every one of my current bikes has a lead (actually they all came from their respective dealers with one, but still it would have been simple to install).
The leads double as a way for me to run my heated gear when I want to.

The ring terminal connects directly to your battery and lives on the bike. The other end plugs into the battery tender. In the picture below the part that plugs into the tender is capped. You remove the cap and plug in the cable. The cap is to provide protection from the weather. They make all kinds of accessories that also plug into the ring terminal: a 12v cigarette outlet, USB outlet that you can use to charge cell phones and cameras and gps units while you ride. The chargers for AGM (lead acid) batteries and Lithium batteries are different. The output from the battery to your devices will work with all 12v batteries. The input (battery charging) may be different for different batteries. Shorai lithium batteries use a proprietary charging system. Your stock battery will not be lithium.

Taking the cover off is no big deal, just one allen head screw and a push on connector. I doubt that the OEM tool kit has the right size allen key. On that topic, you may as well figure out what size allen key is needed to take the tank off. Once again, not in the tool kit so you can add that item. If you ever need to do a roadside electrical check you'll find that all the relays are under the tank.
Most dealers go ahead and install the correct charger connection so they can keep the battery charged until the bike sells.

Not sure if you can do the same, but the couple times I've run down the battery on my Mille, I connected the charger to the main terminal on the starter motor, and to a bolt on the frame for ground.

What a nice thought. I'm afraid they install it when they install the battery. They plug it in to charge and their PDI is done.
Nice thought? Most bikes come with the battery already in the bike. I have been there when the crate is opened. PDI is usually a wink and nod, maybe installing the mirrors but not much else. 100% of the new bikes I have purchased in the last 20 years have already had the battery tender installed. That's 3 Ducati's, a BMW, and 3 Guzzi. Maybe I have been lucky but I think not.

You should be able to find a male/female extension cable at a automotive outlet, I bought 2 24" ones and cut them in half to prewire 4 bikes. Just remember the female is always positive (I can't believe I said that)
As Kev says, great to power your heated gear, just don't forget to unplug when you turn off.
When camping this will power up all kinds of stuff, lights, phone charger, tire pump you name it

I think battery tender lead installation at purchase varies by dealer AND in my limited experience has gotten more common (at least with the dealers I've used) in the last decade or so.
Certainly the first 3 Harleys, first 2 Guzzis, and none of my BMW's ever came with them (though the BMWs were all private sales/used).
That said, the last 2 Harleys, last Guzzi, and the Ducati all came with them. Plus both 1 of those Harleys, the Guzzi, and the Ducati were all special ordered and didn't spend more than a day on the showroom floor, if that.
So whatever their motivation, it wasn't specifically to keep it charged at the dealer. Though it's possible that's why they usually do it and they just employ sheeple.
