Title: timing belt replacement questions ????
Post by: dsrdave on November 23, 2015, 04:10:18 PM
I want to replace the belts on my recently acquired "98 Centauro.   I've replaced a lot of automotive timing belts without issue.  However, the manual talks about the need to stretch the belts.  I've never heard of such a thing......  In an effort to try and do this correct what is the proper procedure to replace the timing belts???   Thx, Dave.

If you are refering to the statement "the timing belts must be stretched correctly" read "tensioned" correctly.
Ciao

Read this:

It took me awhile to change the belts and then it was 1-2-3.

Dave, I have the tools and the manual to do it correctly. Yours for the asking.

Yes, the tension thing makes sence.  Probably didn't make the translation quite right.  Chuck, thanks for the offer.  I will definitely take you up on the offer.  Have a couple of contract projects to finish up first.  Thx, dave.
