My wife got a call from one of her students asking if we wanted to go for a ride today because she had just purchased a new Moto Guzzi and of course we said yes. She is 22 years old and this is her first bike and she is very happy with her purchase. We had no idea she was looking at bikes and had no influence on her purchase, but I asked her why she bought the bike and her immediate response was, "because they're cool", and I couldn't agree more with her observation.

Now there's a good idea , in fact BC , bring a bunch of you Eastern folks along :thumb:

Sigh, suddenly I feel 22 in dog years............
-
I think I'm in "love".
Ahhh...To be young again ! What a Cutie!
:thumb:
Rick.
-
Oh my! Where were these girls when I was 22? :1:
-
You guys, she is old enough to be your daughter, grand daughter, etc.
Anyway, I just thought it was cool that someone young was buyng into the brand unsolicited, and not pissing and moaning about all the things that people are currently pissing and moaning about with regards to Guzzi.
-
Is she a hipster? Only hipsters like these new Guzzis. I think.
-
Good for her and glad she could share with you guys.
Hope her time with the Goose is good.
And, yes, she is young enough to be one of my daughter's students :)
-
Excellent :thumb:
Thx for that Cat.
Ciao PS. Were still kinda riding up hear in the Couver. LOL
-
Obviously she is totally unaware it's an old mans bike....... :boozing:
-
Very hopeful! Send that young woman some red suspenders!
-
She's got good taste and a good attitude.
Just make sure she knows that a small block doesn't have enough power to go on long trips. :cheesy:
-
Just make sure she doesn't look at this site. One look at all the "I bought a Moto Guzzi and then my penis fell off!" Threads would render her catatonic with fear! Quite apart from the fact that if it happened to her it would be deeply disconcerting and leave her scarred for life!

Yes, I was thinking that I should kill this thread.

I think the small guzzis make a great starter bike. My Breva "feels" like a small bike, they have medium power with a lot of torque and the clutch is more user friendly.
About th same performance as a ninja 250 but without all the shifting and you don't have to keep it wound up all the time
-
What a beauty. And nice bike too, great to see the entry crowd, my daughter included, appreciating a classic design. :thumb:
-
Looks like my daughter, who also wants a bike.
Ask her if she's taken MSF and if not, hip her to it. Hate to see that enthusiastic cutie learn it as she goes.
Tobit
-
Very encouraging! Ride well and safe!
Agree that the small blocks make superb entry level bikes that a rider can grow into and enjoy for years.
My youngest daughter and one of her friends are both intrigued by riding. Friend made me promise if I ever sell the V7R to call her first. Unfortunately she now lives in Delaware, a long way from Texas.

I have the same thought

She had to take the MSF in order to get the license. According to her mom she is not interested in any protective garments that don't fit that cool description but she was wearing boots, gloves, leather jacket, etc. and all stylish. We put on our Stich's and I could see she was not interested.

Was she with you when you went by the KK the other day and missed Mr. N ?

Yes, along with her mom and dad on a big Harley bagger.
-
Let's hope this young lady tells all her friends how much fun she is having on her V7. Maybe she can start a cult.....think Alice's Restaurant....yes, a snappy song to go along with the photo. If this means she's a hipster, so be it. I guess I'm one too (or wish I were young enough to be one) because I really enjoy my V7. Once we get Leafman60 on a V7 we'll have proof that it's a movement!

Heck she probably doesn't even know what steel cut oats are?

Yes Pete - everytime I take a ride I keep hoping to find a bigger one for the one that fell off :boozing:

Heh, back in the day young people were riding Honda 350's coast to coast, I used a 450. :bike-037:

Black leather might well fit the cool criteria, as well as offer protection. With luck she'll grow into it. Some of those early promo photos for the V7 & the Davida girl might help.

Long ago I rode a 77 Yamaha xs 650 from the Canadian border to the Mexican border and back. The other two guys had a 750 bmw and a cb 750 Honda. We had no trouble with any of the bikes, and passed a lot of cars on the way. I now own that same bmw and would do the same trip with it now. 750's are fine for traveling!

750's were big bikes at one time. Put 26,000 trouble free miles on a CB 750.

So after all these years of just being weird, we're suddenly "cool"?
-
So after all these years of just being weird, we're suddenly "cool"?
Well, the cagers think we are all weird, so there is that. I have always thought that females riding, wrenching, being independent, was cool. My wife had her own bike before I met her.
I'm aware that this next statement might be a generalization, and I mean this in a positive way, but I believe that female riders have a different appreciation for riding than male riders. More introspective perhaps?
Anyway, you were cool all along...... :thumb:

"these girls" were out there all along , but I didn't get any of them either!

No, sidecar pilots are weird all the time.

The "I'm holding on and I like it position!" ?

My apologies. I should have made it clearer that I was being sarcastic. I have a V7, and ride it everywhere, including cross country. I prefer it to bigger bikes like my previous FJR or GS1200.
I was poking gentle fun at the folks who think a 50hp, 750 cc bike is somehow inadequate to tour on. Not true. 50 hp is plenty in my opinion, at least for solo riding, and the absence of excess weight is a pleasure each moment.
-
Yeah Prescott , us serious types are often misunderstood

i'm a filthy hipster with more trumpets than brain cells to hold common sense, and now i'm onna little guzzi. seriously, we meet up at the local coffee joints to appreciate each others i-devices, discuss shitty bands, plan matching bird tats, and figure out how to ruin the motorcycle lifestyle images of geezers. ;-)

Sounds like fun!! How cool! Wondering about the possibility of being a geezer hipster...it could happen!

Funny , a hipster in Enid and Muskogee , bet that confuses the folks in California and NYC

After 50 years & 59 bikes w/4 in the garage currently you can't convince me that anyone stating a 750 is a starter bike or to small for touring doesn't have a self inflated opinion of their experience & knowledge or, hopefully, not knowing them, a dry, easily mis-understood sense of humor. I'm proud of her! She can ride the V7 anywhere she chooses!
-
SmithSwede, I humbly apologize! Thanks for clarifying.
-
I thought I was a hipster for 40 years already. Ever since I read all the Lenny Bruce books I could get my hands on. I thought the new tattooed coffee bar types with the tight pants and beards were Amish Hipsters, but what do I know?? (Just joking and not trying to be "hipper than thou")
-
Hey, that's what I am, a geezer/hipster! Yeah, that's it!

Good on her, great to see new blood. It wasn't that long ago a 750 was a mainstream big bike. Learners were on 125s and now there is so much choice out there.
-
You see what happens???
You see who is buying Moto Guzzis???
This is what you have to look forward to with Moto Guzzi's new styling.
Please keep complaining about it

I just like Guzzis cuz they're weird. Im weird.. Nuff said.. :violent1:

Hang, johnr and myself ended up doing a lot of the Tattley Rappet rally two up on my baby B, total weight of over 200kgs. I think his main complaint was that he couldn't keep the little Guz below 80mph. :thumb:

I purchased the Norge bc the price was right and it's soooo kool! :boozing:

Excellent. I'd like to try one with a smart phone signaling that text messages are waiting as the bait.

JMHO:
Moto Guzzi bike do not look cool, they are cool because of who rides them.
-
Norge, you have got to get out of the bubble!

Norge, you have got to get out of the bubble!
That was a compliment to all those who ride a Moto Guzzi if ever there was one.
-
Norge Pilot, I was just having a little fun! Hence my use of two laughing emoji and a wink.
And I agree, in a certain, way, that I appreciate, I find many Guzzi riders very cool. But, in the broader, more commonly applied application of what it takes to be cool, Guzzi riders are not!

Treat her nice mate - she's obviously got class.
Oh - and I did my first trip to the Bathurst races
from Sydney on a Honda 125 Benley, show her
how to pack it properly and get out and find some
clean air.
Cheers Maurie.

Those Benleys are appreciating in value out here quite quickly. Man those things could wind up and sound real nice with a modified exhaust on them.

how about a pic OF THE GIRL on the bike? :boozing:
