Well the ongoing sage of Frank’s 850-T (with a T-3 filtered engine) goes on.
It is here for new headlight ears and a couple of minor adjustments in the screen that was installed a few months back.
The shifter has long given the rider a hard time due to an issue with pivoting in the ankle, poor guy suffers from gout and when that is not flaring up, arthritis making shifting with the stock 850 lever a real problem.
It finally dawned on my, while looking at the West Coast Guzzi V11 Jackal that a heel and toe shifter is what he needs.
I know that the swap to boards would do it but is there a set up for a heel and toe shifter with pegs ala Bassa, Jackal etc on an earlier Tonti frame.. …?
That would keep me from the need to swap brake levers and all that with swapping to boards.
Thanks,
Rob

Weld on a heel section

I have the complete lower rails with linkage and pegs from an 03 stone. I would swap you for the stock T setup. Or, sell it outright.

My Eldorado came with pegs and a heel and toe.
You are right, it is easier as you get older.
As for the gout, tell him to drink lots of water, the crystals form because the fluids are too concentrated.

I had a heel and toe shifter on my old CB500-4. Used the stock shifter and attached a 'heel' section. Not because of foot problems. Spit shined boots. Didn't want to mess them up making upshifts. :)
FWIW, my heel portion was long and set behind the heel of my boot. When upshifting, moved the ball of my foot to the peg and the heel rested perfectly on the rear portion of the shift lever.

Maybe suggest a Convert?

Probably the best idea...

He does some medication for the gout but it just flares up once in a while.
Maybe suggest a Convert?
Yeah, that would have been a good idea before he bought this 850 but he loves this thing so I don't see that happening.

I think that might be quite a bit of modification for the brake side.
Thanks all, I think I'll try the added on heel section.
Best,
Rob
