Thanks for the link.

I am really interested in the new V9. However, it does not seem to generate much excitement here (not as much as the new Thruxton R anyway).

The Thruxton R is a sexy beast and probably a little more mainstream. But it also probably will cost at least 1/3 more.

And for me, as much as I recognize its appeal, its ergos are probably all wrong.

Spindly forks, 55 HP  retro fluffy.  MG has lost their legendary heritage.  Sad.  Time to look at Triumph's new line.  I want a real hot rod.

Why would you even be looking at a V9? It doesn't sound like that is remotely the type of bike you want anyway?

Hell, if you want a real hot rod then you probably don't want anything in the "retro" category at all.

Funny how times change.

Never did I think I'd hear "spindly" when referring to 40mm fork tubes!

For what it's worth, article mentions suspension "upgraded" from the V7.

V7 + hp = V9, Basically
The V7—from which the V9 is derived—holds a strong claim to authenticity within the hipster-luring world. In one form or another, the bike has been a stalwart for Moto Guzzi for 45 years. Last year,

Errrrm? Obviously done his research then??

It's kind of growing on my but I'd rather have the Stornello.

OK,  Sorry spindly evokes response.  Where is the Daytona RS today?  Where is the -even basic V11-today?  For me, MG is a husky, sound perfect, Shelby Cobra.  Spins up, shifts clean, sounds like perfect.  Whats wrong with wanting to buy that again?  And please, at least 90 HP.  Come on you guys!

You're not going to get 90 hp from an air cooled 850, that can pass emissions.  And, I 'm not sure what you mean, the small blocks don't make 90Hp, but all the current big blocks exceed 90hp.

The Cali 1400s have 96 HP, spin up, shift clean. Sound good, if a little quiet.

Hey, I'm one of the loudest proponents for a successor to the spine frame bikes.

I still have a Sport 1100 I bought new, and learned to love it's "spindly" 41.7mm Marzocchis !  Sounds great with the Staintunes, and puts mid 80s to the ground.

I owned a V11 LeMans Nero Corsa for a long time, and would've gotten an MGS-01 by now, if the Strada model had ever been built.
