Or both have only hints of truth.
IIRC - there is currently no DIY remapping available for the V7 and Cali lines (though the Rexxer may be available for one or both).
You can equip an 8V with a slip-on, whether it helps or hurts is a case of the slip-on in question. I doubt many would cause a melt-down, and you CAN remap an 8V with Guzzidiag and related tools.

So you would need to find an expert with Guzzidiag. I asked my dealer about remapping when purchasing the bike. They said they only know of one person who had their 8V remapped and it was nothing but trouble.

CoolR, theres a guy locally with a Staintune slip on he wanted to sell last summer. I bet he still has it, wanted about $400. for it, should I contact him?

You don't mention which 8V? There are many.
Any of the bikes that use the W5AM controller can easily be reflashed. The trick is finding someone who has the skills to build a decent map who understands how the engine works. All aftermarket pipes will affect the way the engine fuels up so each type of can and combination of pipework will require a different map. Swapping out the air filter and modifying the airbox will achieve nothing and in most cases is counter productive, leave it alone.

My 15 Stone with Augostini pipes runs and sounds glorious. I had the ECU remapped. My bike runs fantastic up and down thru the entire range. No popping, jerky throttle, or any other issue. MOST enjoyable to ride.

If you te me me what bike it is I can tell you if we have a map available. Most of the models other than the Griso Mark has only built maps for the stock machine.

OK, I'm pretty sure we have a decent Norge map but I'm not sure if Mark has developed a roller motor version yet.
As for tuning? The tune is very important but this doesn't alter when remapping. The steps taken to ensure optimum performance remain the same. Valve clearances must be correct, throttle bodies balanced and TPS calibrated correctly. If the throttle stop screw on the TB's has been messed with nothing will help.

Todd at Guzzitech flashed my ECU, four years ago, after I installed a set of Agostini slipons. 2010 V7 Classic. It made the bike run much better, no comparison to stock.

Cool Runnings, here's a pic of the Agostini pipe that was on my Norge when I bought it. I'm running the stock map and the bike runs and sounds great. No decrease in performance or "melt downs" here !
Apparently the stock map can trim around the difference from the stock exhaust without any problems -- at least in this case. If you did go with an aftermarket exhaust with your stock map, I believe you would need to reset the ECU learning parameters either with Guzzi Diag or by pulling the main fuse for a few seconds.

I have been there with an Agostini can on a 2014 Norge. You have four options: (1) leave the DB killer in and do not re-map; (2) leave the DB killer in and re-map; (3) remove the DB killer and do not re-map; and (4) remove the DB killer and re-map.
Is your DB killer in or out? Do you like a quieter or louder exhaust?
Agostini silencers with the DB killer IN do NOT require a re-map. They are designed to work with what you have. However, you may find, as I did (some of the time) that you prefer the sound with the DB killer removed. (It is a glorious sound; not too loud, but very manly and authoritative). With the DB killer removed, you would just have to see how your bike runs. It can indeed trim around it quite a bit. (Give it some time and miles.)

Interesting, I'm running a Mopar CAI and Corsa cat-back exhaust on my Dodge without any problems. I've heard about the 'main fuse thingy' before. Maybe I need to look into this more. I like the idea of the DB killer out! :evil:

I've been running Agos (DB killers IN) on my '14 Special for a year. No remap needed. Can't imagine the bike running any better.

I have a 2012 Norge with a Mistral slip on with DB killer in. It ran fine with the stock map, but runs even better with Marks map (#7286) :thumb:, installed with Guzzidiag.

Yes, Mark was gracious enough to send me his map as well, but I haven't installed it yet -- I have been hesitant to try the new map because I wasn't sure how it would work with the Agostini. Your report of compatibility of the map with a slip-on is encouraging however --

No, its still a flat tappet but I just received Kit A which I am about to install. I'm curious though weather to run the stock map or leave Marks map in with the rollers and what to set the valves at with either map.

I installed kit A a couple of months ago, I believe the recommendation is for .004 in inlet and .006 in exhaust. Not sure about if what map you are running makes any difference on the valve settings though --

I think you right on the clearances though, but will just wait for the experts Mark or Pete to reply. I'm sure they can point us in the right direction!

All Mark's roller maps are built for 4&6.
He doesn't do WG any more so if you want info best to PM me.

I was gonna comment on Guzzitech.. His ECU flashes are good. I had him do my V11. He custom mapped my bike for the Mistral pipe and crossover. The bike is now a freight train. Ive ridden one of his tuned V7s . Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa y better than stock..lol :thumb:
