I have been following this for quite some time. Interesting concept. Honda of course has huge R&D but aircraft are a whole different world from autos and bikes. Wish them well and will be watching.

They've had prototypes at OSH for years. And years. Motorcycles, too.. not that I'd look at them, of course..

Goodness. Young engineers have become retired engineers during the development of that program. By now, their assembly line, and possibly all the out buildings are full of finished airplanes--waiting and waiting for the TC that never comes. You wonder how much re-fitting will be necessary? The market they were aiming at when they started has become pretty-well saturated in the last decade and a half. Well, all the best to them; I admire their willingness to sink so much money into the program.
The article says: "Fujino, now Honda Aircraft Co.'s CEO, brought innovation by positioning the engines above the wings rather than beneath them." That's not quite right.
The innovation was to attach the engines to vertical pylons that attach to the wing, whereas all the other aircraft of this type attach the engines to horizontal pylons that attach to the fuselage. The engines themselves are in the same location, regardless.
