I thought they did a pretty good job on this project:

Yuk, looks all wrong.
-
I want mine w/1400 motor.
-
Shudder.
That pretty gold torque link attached to the CARC looks dangerous to this engineer. That link takes both compression and tension loads, and since somebody machined out two long sections of web from the I-section, that just leaves the thin outer caps to take the load. The capability of that link to take compression without buckling has been reduced considerably. Maybe it won't fail; but, I wouldn't want to be riding the bike when it does.
Has anybody seen this done on other CARC bikes? Taking weight out through machining can be a fine thing; but--sheesh--not there.

It's a Rossopuro part. They make 'em for Spine Frame bikes and CARC bikes.

I hate that they call it an "MGS-01 Replica", because mechanically, it's a Breva 1200 Sport.
It's still a big, long, heavy CARC Guzzi under that MGS-01 looking fiberglass bodywork.
What I'd like to see is someone take an MGS-01 chassis and use a V11 Sport/Lemans/Sport 1100 engine, or adapt a new 1200 8V.
What makes the MGS-01 special is its chassis. Not its racy plastic bodywork.

I'm with you, don't forget the 4v engine. It's a beast compared to your 2v. it could be called mgs01 lookalike.
-
Guys, yes I agree. Nothing will compare to the original and the Carc bikes are enormous compared to the MGS/01.
-
I saw an article years ago where they had a "MGS-01" Kit for the Centauro...
This was about in the same timeline when the MGS-01 first came onto the scene..
It looked very nice, in pics.

That kit was made by two friends of mine in Austria. They just made it from the mgs01 pictures available.

Well I think it looks quite nice. Everything fits together really well, plus the bars are above the seat so it probably good to ride as well.

Yup, that was it. Thank you..
This rendition looks spot on with the featured Centauro engine... :thumb:

Sorta close. Better than the CARC version, but the V11 doesn't have the swingarm and rear suspension of the MGS-01, which is a major feature of the bike:

These "replicas" and "tributes" to a bike like the MGS-01 are really amazing.
The bike really struck a cord with a certain contingent of Guzzisti.
People don't normally go to all the trouble to build replicas and tributes of limited edition motorcycles.
Piaggio really missed an opportunity here, killing the "not invented here" MGS-01 project after it took the reins at Guzzi.
And ten years later, people are still talking about it. I've never seen such deaf ears as I've seen with Piaggio in regards to sporting Guzzis.
-
I agree, Piaggio needs to make a MGS 02. Its never going to compete with Aprilia Superbikes, so what's the big deal? There is a real market for a 450Lb air cooled MG making 135hp, why not make a halo bike to fit the bill? I think it is a time that has come.
-
Well BMW did it with the HP2 sport, and when you think there are a lot more BMW lovers then guzzi fans, It didn't sell!
The bike was made very nice. With carbon and nice parts everywhere.

You won't get that kind of power out of an air cooled motor and pass emissions it will have to be water cooled.

reminds me of the Ford Granada adverts on TV...

Fair does for building :thumb: it I couldn't but I think the exhaust lets the rest of the bike down.
They could do with finding somebody with a pipe bender. Its too "stepy" for me
-
It could have been a sport touring model for Guzzi.
-
Yup, that was it. Thank you..

I'm not a "buyer" for it in any case as I distinctly dislike the ass-high, elbows low riding position. In comparison though, that Centauro based example is worlds better looking if only for the air-box and sub-fender filling the area between the exhaust and everything else. Without it, it looks kinda cobbed-up.
Todd.

It's the ENGINE, guys...
The Centauro's 4v Engine makes the Austrian Replica MGS-01 look closer to the real MGS-01 than does the other replikit ..

I assume you are right on that. The race only MGS-01 was rated at 122hp, the Griso is rated at 110hp, and it's a 1200. Getting 135hp out of it might be do able, but not under E4.
