Title: 12/12 and 60 degrees f
Post by: lucian on December 12, 2015, 06:18:18 PM
Racked up another 160 miles on the Griso today on salt  /sand free roads and only a light jacket on. If this is climate change, it works for me. Hope others are enjoying it as well, what a bonus. Not like we didn't pre pay after last winter here in New England.

I got pretty sweaty during my bicycle ride today, wearing shorts and a T-shirt.  I didn't get out on a motorcycle today, but will be taking my mini-road-racer Yamaha DT100 to the supermoto track at VIR again tomorrow.  Who would have thought you could warm up tires on a track in December?  And we've burned only a small fraction of the wood we usually burn this time of year.

Saw at least a dozen snowmobiles for sale on the roadside and was glad I didn't have one sitting in my yard. Seems like a hit or miss thing to be able to enjoy now. Not giving up my snow blower just yet though.

The Minneapolis weather folk say we are experiencing a normal Kansas City winter right now.  The snow is gone, and the ice has mostly melted off standing bodies of water, where it did form, anyway.  Coming to an end in a few days, though.  And here I winterized the bikes a few days before our Thanksgiving (non)snowstorm.  The recent rain has washed away the road salt and I could have been riding most of this past week.  Such is life.  If the mild winter is with me/us, maybe I'll be riding again in about 90 days!

Steve.

Rode 200 miles  Buffalo NY today.  7 feet of snow this time last year.  Go figure!

I too rode today with a high of 73. In SoCal...

But New England in the 60s this time of year can be odd but it's nice to hear you took it by the horns and whipped out your goose.

61 degrees north of Boston yesterday. Did an oil change, valve adjust wash and wax on the Griso and Stelvio along with some nice "test" riding.

The Stelvio after it's "whore's bath". Still looking good after 65,000+ miles of what could best be described as near abuse.

I got my hands on an NTX tank and windshield and they arrive this week. I'm going to start the conversion process as soon as the weather closes down. I'm going to keep the paint scheme the same so it still looks like an 09.

Great to be riding in mid-December.  Last year I was in central New England with a heap of snow.  So waiting for the other shoe to drop regarding winter weather and knowing that these predictions have a vanishingly small chance of being right but do reflect some data-based modeling, I looked at Accuweather's long term forecast for Asheville here in western North Carolina.  It goes out through Jan 15 and doesn't have one day where the high temp is below 45F.  Last year in November I posted that I was hoping for a season where I could ride each winter month.  Uh, missed Dec 14, Jan 15, Feb 15, and Mar 15.  Maybe this year.
Hats off to my polar brethren - when the time comes, and it's going to come for you, ride hard, ride cold and post pics!

Big thanks to El NiƱo for the mild temps so far this year!  Only had an hour available to ride with other commitments yesterday, but I took advantage of it.  Saw more riders out than almost any day this past year, one in a Santa suit.  High today is only going to be in the low 50s...brrrrr.  May have to just suck it up and go ride anyway.   :bike-037:

Enjoy while you can.  I've spent enough time in the NE to know that it will change.

65 Degrees and cloudy in S. Central PA today from about noon until 4:30.     Being cloudy was a blessing, as I could stay out longer w/o the low sun being a hazard as I finished up my ride heading west.

I got a total of about 200 miles in today on the Duc, about 160 of that with three other friends, and then another 40, because it was too nice to return home at 3:00.

I hope everybody enjoyed the nice weekend, at least for the North East, it looks like it is going to end.   The forecast is showing a high of 42 on Friday, and a high of 38 on Saturday for Harrisburg, PA.

It was a fantastic December day for riding.   I road about 200 miles on the Duc.

That's like last Sunday - I went to a breakfast meeting organized by the "C14 (Concours 1400) Owners & Friends" and only one of them showed up - in his truck! Guess they didn't like the 28 degree temperature.
