Hard to get anywhere from Redondo Beach without getting on the 405..
Oh, forgot.. another benefit. Just got back from Trader Joes, getting some cheap booze (!) Kentucky bourbon is $5 a bottle less than in Indiana <scratching head> and there weren't any 300 lb. Indiana girls shopping there.

Ran out and bought some oil and a filter.
Dang! I need to warm it up to change that stuff out. Maybe a 20 mile or so run down the coast? Holy crap! Punched the button and it lit off. Forgot what a warmed up Guzzi with full Staintune exhaust sounded like! I likes it..

People who haven't ridden it can't begin to understand how *Unusual* it is. It really is like no other 2V Guzzi I've ever ridden. Mike Haven commented that I'd better take care. I did, but I still trowelled it on the way to Santa Fe! :D

Whew! Last time I have to change out the oil and filter laying on the concrete driveway trying not to make a mess. Yuck. I've been putting a hose clamp on the filter, so I couldn't just take it out through the porthole. I've never given a second thought to pulling the pan, but as I ..er.. mature  it's getting to be a PITA.  Binned the hose clamp. I'm 99% sure that the Bosch filter doesn't need it. The next time I have to change oil will be in Indiana in the comfort of my shop. :thumb:
And..
I'll be able to open the throttle.   It's hard to go around a corner with your front wheel in the air, as Pete obliquely mentioned.

Thought I recognized those flying pig stem caps, plus of course  the DRC. That is a special bike, the best sorted suspension on any of them.

Hi, Shaun..
Unfortunately.. nobody Knows for sure. Here's what I *do* know after a fair amount of research. The original owner was a Doctor on the east coast and didn't care how much money he spent on it, apparently.  This is from the V11 forum. Rumor was that it had Mike Rich heads. When I did the first service after I got it from Pete, I saw unusual pushrods. Decided to call Mike Rich on the off chance they were titanium, and find out. He told me to shoot him a picture, and he said they were his and asked me about the bike. When I told him of what history I knew, he remembered doing the heads. Sill had the flow bench data, and said they were *really* good heads. Gave me the numbers which I promptly lost.  My only concern at the time was making sure I was adjusting them correctly. .002 and .003" btw. He said he flowed them for a Megacycle cam, but had nothing to do with the engine assembly. Has a Power Commander, and fueling is good.
The rest is pure conjecture.
There is an open air box and head guards from FBF. I'm *guessing* it has the old FBF cylinder kit because of the Harley like torque at low rpm. <shrug> Dunno. It'll pick up the front end with throttle.  My butt dyno says it will smoke my old Centauro.
At any rate, it's more fun than a guy should be allowed to have, and has been stone reliable for the 6 years or so that I've had it.

Have you checked the airbox Chuck? I know it had some sort of horrid rock strainer affair on it when I bought it but I thought Guthrie it had been reverted to stock when MPH stuck with in the twin plate clutch? I may not be remembering right though and Todd, who would probably of remembered, isn't here to help us any more. Other stuff I know was done was the aforementioned clutch swap and the Houston boys went through the bevelbox and replaced the pinion nose bearing and a couple of other bits and bobs. The suspension was also gone through and re-sprung as the original springs were ridiculously, dangerously, soft! I believe it was opted to just go to whatever weight was used on the later RM's that also used Ohlins. It certainly handles better than any other V11 I've ever ridden. So much so that you hardly notice the frame flex which is usually fairly easily provoked on most Spineys!

I still prefer my Griso but that's simply a matter of personal choice. That Black Pig is an astonishing testament to how good the old 2 Valver can be.

Yeah, it has the stock air box with either a K&N or the English version that looks the same to me, and a cnc aluminum surround holding it together.
I'm not that fast, but I've never noticed any frame flex. Seems rock solid to me.. <shrug> About all I have to do is flick it into a corner and go along for the ride while adding throttle and not messing with anything.  :boozing:
I think it's good enough to make the driver the main factor in how fast it will go around a corner.
Todd sent me a two page list of what MPH did to it while there..

I remember when I moved down here from the tundra in Alberta twenty odd years ago, I would ride in pretty much any weather SoCal threw at me.  I'd be wearing t shirts when everyone else was bundled up, and think the rest of SoCal must be crazy.

You would've had a good riding day or two shortly after you arrived, but now that my blood has thinned out, these past few days have been too cold for me to ride.  But then again, I've turned into a total wuss when it comes to weather.  I have to travel to Calgary in a month or so, and am dreading it.

I'll pm you if we do any riding this weekend, and maybe you'd like to join us for a spin through Angeles Forest.

Hi, Mike.. yeah I've been out in the hills a couple of days. Was surprised that the SMMs were ok yesterday as long as you stayed away from the cliff side of the roads. Had to stop and take the liner our of my jacket, though.   That's why I stopped on Mulholland and took that first picture.
