Really was in a barn on a local vegetable farm. Last on the road 30 years ago - "ran when parked". It will be parted out over the next several days. Some pieces will be used for my "Ambovert" project and the rest sold off.

My white one had done 130,000 miles when the owner pulled the heads off and left it that way for 30 years

I think it's because life happens. Priorities change, children, deaths in the family, sicknesses, job loss, etc - all of a sudden things some things that mattered a lot don't matter as much. Is that too deep? OK, what I don't understand is why these things rust so much when parked in covered spaces! What can be done to prevent it? Spray the whole bike with slick-50 oil and check back 30 years later?

It's only the chrome plate holding it together

Interested in the left side switch if in usable condition and the seat prop rod.

Emailed you.

Usually that patina adds considerable costs. It can take years to achieve, and buffing it off would destroy it's value. Especially to someone who may want to throw a damp canvas over it for another thirty years.

I assume the chrome bores were still good though?

Cover the whole bike with either ATF from a sprayer or Corrosion X HD in a spray can. ATF will wash off easier come resto time.

And I would like the right side switch if it is still usable.

Ciao.
The farmers apparently expected this one to sit a while, because they did do some preparation for storage. Cylinders were oiled, engine sump, ATF tank, trans. and rear drive all overfilled or filled to the top, tank and carbs. drained. All of the bolts came loose without a fuss (including the front engine bolt). If only they had sprayed something on it to protect the paint and chrome.
Now completely stripped down, only the engine and transmission are still bolted together.

Good grief, what were you doing on a vegetable farm??

Looking for un-organic meat.

Great finds both, I think a Convert may be in my future.

The seat is sold, front fender is still buried somewhere in the barn. I hope to go search for it, the sidecovers and calipers sometime after the Holidays.

Okay.
