Post by: NCAmother on December 22, 2015, 07:34:13 PM
Hi guys,
I'm a photographer according to the IRS    I'm driving from Santa Barbara to Portland on the 27th, can you fellas familiar with the west coast suggest some really good photo taking spots of landscape(including beaches).  Especially Portland, as I will spend a few days up there.  Thanks !!!!  nca

LOTS of photo ops on the coast if you come up 101. This is in February near Newport...

If you are on the coast - Cape Kiwanda, Oswald West, Cannon Beach, Neahkahni Mtn.

If socked in at PDX drive the old Columbia river Hwy to Crown Point and Multnomah Falls and keep going to Rowena (evergreen oaks and pines) and the Dalles.  Or stop at Eagle Creek and hike up the trail.  On the way back you can stop at Edgefield (McMenamins) for a pint.  Sorry no pics.

Or head down to Silver Falls state park.

If sunny head up toward Mt. Hood and buy a lift ticket up to the top.  Or ski the Trillium Lake trail and look back toward the mountain.   Probably closed, but Johnstone ridge at Mt. St. Helens has good views.

On the way south from PDX head over HWY 26 to 97 (unless a blizzard is predicted) and stop at the Crooked River bridge and Smith Rock.

Google images of the locations and it will be enough to get you in trouble.

The lake is Crater - closed in winter:

Multnomah Falls is 30 miles east on I84.  Right on the river.  Long about the 20 mile mark, rain will turn to snow.  It's winter there.
