Hi all
Bit of a lurker here, but hoping someone can help me with a question. My 77 Lemon was knocked over in the garage (mother in law) and it needs to have the tank repainted. I was always led to believe that the black paint was supposed to be satin finish. Mine was so worn with rubbing and touring that it was shiny, and all of the images I can find are the same.
Does anyone have an Mk1 lemon, or does anyone know if this is the case?
Cheers

You are correct, it is a satin finish. Not flat black. Years of waxing, polishing and just wiping it down will cause the satin finish to become somewhat glossy.

I can only speak about the blue bikes, the black was a satin on those. PJ1 makes a black "Special Satin" that would be a good match. Its a durable paint that works well on frames. I have not tested it with gasoline though.
