Title: Cali 1400 tank cover removal
Post by: groundhog105 on December 29, 2015, 03:22:48 PM
I did a search and came up empty.  Im trying to remove the side covers on the tank and it appears to have a third screw under the guzzi wings. Im sure someone here has had these off and I need advise how to get to this screw.

thanks in advance

Order a new set of the wings from your dealer because they break easily.  Try a piece of 5 lb test fishing line.  Work it behind one wingtip and saw away.  If it survives, some double sided weatherproof tape of the appropriate thickness will stick it back on.

Thanks. What a messed up way to attach a side cover.

what rtbickel said.

note that it is not necessary to remove them to remove the tank.

The only time the panels on the tank need to be removed are for repainting or replacing with different panels, such as chrome plated. Removing the panels has no other purpose, is not part of the tank removal process and will not give you access to the frame under the tank.

There are 2 plastic barbs together with the double sided tape. The barbs are at the fore and aft ends, and face the center. Good luck.

Thanks for the info folks. I put the bolts back in and left it alone.
