Mecum's Motorcycle Auction is on NBC Sports Saturday evening 5-8 pm central time.

I watched this auction 'live' on line, and I thought prices were down. But for a few real rarities, not many bikes reached their pre-auction estimates.

OMG, it's not even original. I sold a `71 civilian Ambassador a few years ago for $3,000 that was all original. This red 1 doesn't even have it's centerstand or original police bike speedo. Someone didn't know what they were buying.

WAY too much for the ambo. The V7 sport at bonhams was a bit of a cluster.... The 3 singles were VERY nice, restored to museum quality. The magni was nice too, I just couldn't pull the trigger on it...

From the V7 Sport's description:
"Designer Giulio Carcano introduced the 90° twin and it was this engine design (with pre-WWII beginnings in a "military truck"), in 703cc form, which was fitted in the new V7 model introduced in 1967."
The legend continues.

That sandcast 72 Ducati went for $29 large with frame and engine # 296.
My 750 frame and engine # was 1471 if I remember. It had fiberglass tank, amal carbs, and all front end and including Lockhart brakes that screamed 1972. I bought it in 73 and thought I remember it having a 73 title but the bike had been in the shop for a year before I bought. I'd bet the farm I had a 72. I sold it for $750 in 91.
