Title: con rod alignment
Post by: ray bear on January 23, 2016, 09:17:55 PM

Hi all, Im rebuilding my V7 sport after finding chrome flakes in the sump, good news all is still standard and crankshaft in good condition and well within spec however at less than 50000 mile I expected it to be unmolested but the milled surface on the conrods faced away from each other facing there respective cylinders and was my understanding that the milled surface of both rods was facing the right cylinder can someone enlighten me on this please. My conrods are the ones without oil holes. Thanks Bill

If there are no oil holes to face in one direction, it shouldn't make any difference.

I knew you would confirm if you showed up.

Must be real early one not to have holes in rods, or left over rods.

Slight highjack, but the oil holes in the con rods, are they to squirt the underside of the pistons?
