I am so bad when it comes to installing anything computer-related. But today was a positive thing! My desktop computer is located 40+ feet from my Time Warner router, with a few walls in between. The download speed was abysmal. and I didn't feel like working with TW to remove their wi fi and add an aftermarket unit. So, I purchased a $45.00 NetGear extender at Best Buy. 15 minutes after unboxing, I'm up and running. And speeds are certainly improved $45 worth! Not perfect, but such an improvement.

I run my wifi from my daughters house which is 500" and several walls away. I have one extender out doors about 300' away. Speedtest usually shows speeds in the 12 - 15 mb range. Seems to be adequate for most things. Been running this way for about 7 years now.

I don't game, so 15mbps or a little better is good enough for me, too. That's on my desktop that's several feet and a few walls from the router. I'm experiencing 30mbps close to the router, which is the download speed TWC quoted me when I subscribed to their service.

I can pick up our new Archer C7 router in the shop. At least 150 feet away, brick wall and metal building. No extender..
