Title: pcv valve.
Post by: DARKHORSE on January 26, 2016, 07:35:37 PM
Working over the V-11 on its winter layup doing my undertank checklist. I ordered a new breather hose and pcv valve from mgcycle. On removing the hose I did not find a pcv valve installed from the factory. Made me wonder if a pcv valve is needed on a spine frame. The bike has low miles and I dont get any oil in the airbox so no problems. Did some models have the pcv and some did not? Asking the experts.

Are you taking about the crankcase breathing sys or the gas tank breathing sys?

Tube on top of block has no check valve like earlier motors.

Gas tank should have a tipover valve on vent line.

My 2001 V11 Sport didn't have a crank case check valve. Haven't checked on my 2004 V11S.

What does the parts manual say?

I checked the parts manual and it doesnt show a crankcase breather valve. I just figured to have all the parts when I ordered the breather hose. The description for the valve was available to fit late model big twins. Thats what got me thinking if some use it and some do not. I am putting the new hose on without the valve and leave well enough alone. Thanks.
