Has anyone had ongoing issues with leaking tappet covers. My Norge sometimes develops a weep in one or the other. Usually abut 15,000 k between needing replacement, but can (and has) been a problem if it happens when you're away. I've thought about re facing cover on a flat ground glass surface, but might let it go till it happens again. I got some newer spec ones when in Mandello and the guy said they will not fail like the older brown ones. The new ones are black and supposedly have a better adhesive in them that bakes on and seals better when the bike gets hot for the first time after fitting.

You might try a pair of the metal core gaskets if you haven't already:

Never heard of such thing, and I would run away from an gasket that 'bakes on'. You'll regret that during the next valve adjustment.
Maybe a light film of RTV gasket sealant.

Yeah ok, I'll keep that in mind. I think he was suggesting that the adhesive sort of forms a bond, but I bet you're right, next tappet check will mean a proper cleaning of the faces. I should have a look when they're next off to check for marks or low spots on the surfaces. Nice to know that it's somewhat rare, means maybe it's me doing something wrong which is always an easier remedy. Thanks.

Silicone gaskets helped on my Breva 1100.

Did you have similar issue and where did you get gaskets ?

It's not you, the originals are junk, change more than I can count. Ripped and blowouts. I have been putting on the older square motor gaskets that are usually green. If you could get the tin centered ones it's the best way to go. I thought they were available in AU before the US.

Thanks Dean.
Sorry for not adding any info in with my previous post. I'm kinda loopy right now. I had 2 umbilical hernias repaired Friday and since I've beenhome it's be3n pain pills and naps.
Both sides started leaking at about the same time. The silicone gaskets from realgaskets.com took care of the problem.
