Will drop peg position 1 3/8"
Just ordered a set TODAY!
Thinking.......... have some old MTB handlebar grips, may soap them up and slide them over the Knights.

Any experience with the lowering toe pegs? Going to see how existing controls works with stock shift/ brake pegs first.

I'm using both of the Knight Design products. My side stand touches the underside of the left foot peg, and my left heel sometimes touches the center stand, but the vibrations are not bad, and the improvement in comfort is worth it to me. The lowering toe pegs are nice because they match the drop of the foot pegs. The stock toe pegs might work, but you will want to rotate them into their lowest position.

I have a brand new black pair...mounted them and couldn't take the vibration, took them off. Nice paper weights they are!
You may be able to eliminate the touching by dremeling the corner of the side stand a bit like we recently did when mounting the Gold Wing 1800 pegs...which I think are more comfortable (rubberized) and wider/flatter, thereby giving more knee room as well.

Did you try?
- Get a small piece of rubber, cut a slit in it, and glue or secure it to the top stop of the side stand so it spaces the stand down slightly. You will want it to clear the foot peg by about 1/16 inch (1.5 mm).
Also, did you note my idea of using mountain bike handle bar grips as rubber dampening units?

I am on my second Norge. (A teacher running late for school did not stop for a stopped school bus, whereas I did.) My second Norge is smoother than the first. Nevertheless, even with the first Norge, the vibrations did not and do not bother me, and I have not installed any rubber damper on the Knight Design foot pegs. Instead, I wear boots with rubber soles which dampen the vibrations.
Also, dremeling the side stand foot pad sounds like a good idea. I may try that, but it is not essential, at least not with my smooth-running Norge.
An important note regarding installation: you will need two tools do do this quickly and without great frustration:
- A circlip set with pliers and various tips, and
- A wooden dowel with the same diameter as the aluminum pins which hold the foot pegs in place, whose length is equal to the width of the foot peg where the pin pokes through it.
Running to and from the hardware store and fashioning the bit of dowel will take less time and frustration than attempting to replace the foot pegs without these two tools.

I use something like these to keep the sidestand off the footpeg. It just sticks on the sidestand mount near the pivot point, and when the sidestand is up, keeps the sidestand from touching the peg. (I have the goldwing pegs.)
The stick on "bumpers" work pretty well, because when the sidestand is up, it pinches the bumper and keeps it in place. I stuck one on 2000 miles ago and its still there.
Still looking for a more permanent solution for this, but this is getting me by for now --

Good ideas as well Cool...I'm quite happy with the Goldwing Pegs/Springs...they fit perfectly and I think eliminates the need for a lot of time investment...but it sounds like an innovative way to create a set of rubberized lowered pegs...curious what the final drop would be once the rubber layer is on them.
Jeff...you are probably "used" to the vibration you are getting even with rubber soled shoes, but if you were to not have that vibration at all, you would think the Norge is like Black Lighted liquid velvet as you ride, I noticed a marked difference after removing just a bit of the side stand so there was no contact at all with the bottom of the pegs.
Now if you guys could somehow mill up a set of highway pegs which disappear and appear at the touch of a button, preferably mounted on the LHS of the handlebars, color coded to match the fairing and illuminated at night, I'm in for a pair!

Dean, years ago someone came up with highway pegs for the FRJ, I purchased a set and they worked wonders.
Let me know when you have finished the project. :boozing:

Drop: will lose about 3/8" :boozing:
So, with KD pegs and MTB handlebar grips installed, drop with be 1" lower than stock. :thumb:
Also, with MTB handlebar grips installed, you will be able to move your feet into various positions.
Overall length of the pegs varies with the amount of drop and mount required for your bike; most pegs are 5 inches (127 mm) in overall length.
KD
MTB handlebar grips are 4 1/4" in length, should work most excellent!

Regarding highway pegs, if we could purchase and install the police-spec crash bars, we could then attach any number of different highway pegs to them (MG parts 884182 and 884179, as well as the washers and screws, GU14615901 and AP8152287).
-
It's been said a set of Goldwing gl1800 foot pegs work well along with the KD Shift and Brake lowering system. I haven't tried it but I have read about it here on WG... Some pics would be nice.
-
Very good...let's see some pics once they are all ready for prime time!
The Goldwing pegs work great and are plug and play with the correct spring.
What's the KD Shift and Brake Lowering system?
thanks!

Don't know how they mount, going to see how things work with the lowering pegs first.

Going to see if these will work on the Norge.

Feebay wanted like over $40 for some old beat up GL1800 pegs, so decided to go with KD instead.

If these work, you will have struck gold!

I am just not sure where we could mount them. Perhaps holes will need to be drilled in the fairing.

I recall getting a pair of brand new GL 1800 pegs recently for close to that price...keep hunting and you'll find a deal at some point.

Will see how the KD's worked first.

Got a small fortune in my Norge, I better like the bike come spring, otherwise, I'm finished, done with motorcycles and will have to sell it for a huge lose. Why didn't I buy that old Corvette instead!
I'm out of funds.......

I fitted the Knights lowered pegs and toe shift. I like them but I could not get the return spring to work, the recess for the spring on the set I received will not fit , too narrow. I also fitted the euro side stand and really like it.
I bought a set of the GL 1800 to fit on my Stelvio but have not installed yet.

When did you receive the Knights, sounds like they made improvements within the last couple years?

About this time last year. I could probably ream the recess out with a Dremel but just have not taken the initiative and I really need to do it, it is a little dangerous when I lift my left up and take the peg up and have to push it back down with my foot.

How do you guys get by with lowering all this stuff? I already drag centerstand and pegs say too easy. I hate to think what would happen if I made em any lower?

Scraping only on pretty good lean overs while riding 2 up with the center stand, not the pegs! If you're scraping that much it could be the setting on the shock is too soft and may need to be firmed up or it's worn out.
I've got a Wilbers shock coming to me shortly since more riding will be 2 up with some gear as well...hoping that also eliminates the center stand scraping!

MG did change the Norge for the 2nd gen models and they aren't sparkies around corners. With a properly set up 2nd gen Norge, if you are dragging things you've accomplished quite a bit.

I had Knight pegs on and off my V7. I was in the too much foot vibe camp. Raised my seat instead for the V7 and my Norge as I found both of them not well suited for my bony rear end.
I did lower the pegs on my Tiger 1050 though and it was a good solution there. I know, who cares!
-
I must have a different set of Knight Design foot pegs as well as a very smooth Norge. Mine fit perfectly, and I do not feel much vibration from them. As for cornering, I've never touched a peg (the center stand is a different matter when two-up).
-
Sorry. I may have not been clear. Mine were on the V7 only.
I knew when I bought both bikes I'd need a bit more legroom-two knee operations dictate that. That's fine, though. Seats and screens along with pegs and bar reach are a personal fit thing anyway.
After raising my V7 seat I knew the Norge needed that as well. Besides, I found the stock foam WAYYYYYYYYY too soft for long distance support. So as I rebuilt that seat I did the KoF rebuild thing which includes a buffer between the seat pan and the rebuilt foam blend.
The end result is the same. A bit more leg room. The added bonus is a seat I can stay on for 100's of miles. Just doing pegs, if the seat is ok for a rider is a much more cost effective solution.

^ That looks nice! I might try that.
-
That's ingenious...I bet if you shared this with Knight Designs, they might come up with a rubberized version (top and bottom) as well...
How's that highway peg project coming...just a few more months of winter to get it done...we're riding every weekend down here in the south and need some mods for the National Rally to show off!

Knight makes two different top surface treatments I think.
-
For the Norge, I think they have only two different foot pegs available, in two different colors:

Having said that, I am sure they could attach rubber bits upon request. Indeed, "Rubber tread is offered on some models...":
