I've been extremely pleased ever since I began running the 1200 Sport on Michelin Pilot Road3 tires. Good ride, nice handling, and excellent tire wear. However, it appears Michelin may be phasing out the PR3 in favor of their newer PR4.
Here's the question. Have any of you B11, 12S, or Norge owners made the switch from PR3 to PR4? If so, any obvious difference in handling, ride, or wear?
Most of Michelin's claims for the 4 are the same as for the 3 series. An additional claim stated 'better mileage.'
Thanks,
Bob

Yup...ran thru a full set of the 3's and got 12K out of them, now about 6k on the 4's...and still seem to have a fair amount of tread left measuring them just yesterday.
Absolutely sticky, amazing in the rain, and they have a harder center stripe for longer touring ride while maintaining the stickiness on the sides.
Highly recommend them...but I don't see any difference in terms of mileage if you mean what kind of MPG do I get...I am curious to see if I get more than 12K out of them in terms of total miles.

Thanks, Paul .... no, I was asking about tire mileage, not fuel mileage. I've been averaging nearly 10k miles out of a set of PR3 on the Sport. There's some tread left, but I have begun squaring them off by that time, and a set of new ones handle so nicely.

Sounds about right!!
I think you'll be very happy with the 4's!

I put the Pilot 4's on my FZ1 and was amazed at how good they feel. Got about 11,000 miles on first set. I have stayed with the Perilli's on my Norge because they feel as grounded as the Pilots. Both tires are great in the rain and handle well.

Bob, I have a 1200 Sport like yours and I put on a front Michelin Pilot Road 4 and after 10,000 miles, it needs replacing. So I'll figure on ~9500-10,000 miles for the front tire. It's been a very good tire in dry and rain. It has worn fairly evenly as compared to the Continental which wore angles on the sides. I'm planning on getting another one put on in March.
