Any chance, whenever there's a warm spell and bugger the salt. The bikes will outlast me anyway. :evil:

I used to say about the GS vs me ..... it's a contest to see who will outlast who(m).  That damned German bike is winning!

Nick, looks like you had a good day, although roads were a bit sloppy.  Don't ask how, but our roads today were nearly all dry, even after all the snow melt off.  Of course the 30+mph winds helped evaporate it, but it made riding  more like sailing!

Looks like fun- it was warm here as well- mid 70's (20's for the Celsius crowd).  I think I got a sunburn...in February.

What kind of speedometer do you have on that Falcone?

It was on the bike when I got it. It's a Veglia, just not the one that was originally on the bike )  or so I'm informed.

I've checked it against my GPS and it's consistently about 10% off - so typical Veglia. :boozing:

I got out too. First time since early December. I came close to saying the heck with it it's only one day as it's going to get crappy tomorrow. But I'm very glad I did. It's a great tonic to the spirit in the middle of a grey winter.

I got out today too, but, only managed about 90 min. to ride between other obligations.    Still, with more winter weather looming, I was glad to get out.   Last time was two weeks ago (high last weekend was 15 F), last time before that about 3 weeks before that.    So, thankfully, the longest I've gone this winter w/o riding has been 3 weeks.   

Winter does have a way of making you really appreciate a ride when you finally get one.

I didn't take any pictures today, but, here is one from my previous ride, two weeks ago.   I can't wait until the salt is gone for the season so I can get the Guzzis back out.

Sounds about right.  At least you know it is an appropriate replacement. 

Nice to see everyone's rides today.  I didn't get as many miles in (on a 125cc dirt bike), but at least I bombed around some.

Hit 72 today in Indy. Instantly created a long list of things to jump on... The bike being but one. But I made some time. It was a good day.

Pic #1 is absolutely gorgeous!

Love the split rail fence, and the arch of the trees, which must really be beautiful when they're in bloom.

Its been a particularly mild winter here in South Louisiana. Short pants and flip-flops warm this weekend and no clouds until today. I've managed several rides in-between organizing my shop and looking in on my folks. I really like our sub-tropical life here in Waldheim...winter never was my cup of tea.

Ughh! Warm enough to clean shop and garage but a 1/4 mile of half frozen driveway blocks my path to somewhat thawed roads.

Northern BC, Yukon, NWT - It's a dream that will all depend on time, money, work, old dog who insists on staying alive etc. etc. But since it's a three day ride just to get across Ontario, who knows?

Thanks Mate. Yeah the second shot was poorly composed, very nondescript bridge, and those power lines... But I love to see the Italian red in the bright sunshine!

I'd look forward to videos of the NW territory and Yukon Nick. It's inspiring stuff. Ever done the Gaspe? I'd love a primer if so. Got a Brother in Law with a Triumph America and we're kicking the idea around.

One of my earliest trips on the Eldo to was to Gaspe in order to do some hiking in Gaspesie Park in the Chic Choc Mountains http://www.sepaq.com/pq/gas/index.dot?language_id=1 (http://www.sepaq.com/pq/gas/index.dot?language_id=1). It's a great area and the coast road along the St. Lawrence is very pleasant.
Brush upon your French though - most people only speak French. It as close to being in Europe as you can get in North America.
Great people - but don't assume they either understand or will speak English.
Consider also taking the ferry from Matane across to Baie Comeau then riding Highway 389 up to Manic 5 (paved) or all the way to Labrador City if you don't mind a bit of gravel.  Or along the north shore to Quebec City (North America's only 17th century walled town), or......or.......

I'm actually Quebecois in Heritage. My 11th Great Pepe settled in Riviere Ouelle, and I took my kids on a road trip in 2002, hiking and camping in Parq de La Jacques Cartier, north of Old Quebec City, visited the city extensively, then progressed up the southern shore, camped on the St Lawrence and did some genealogy work at the local catholic church in R.O., then proceeded to Maine and points south, tracking my family over the last couple centuries. It remains my kids gold standard for a vacation. I was amazed that, as you say, folks 60 miles from the US in a country which officially speaks English, simply had nothing. And this wasn't willful obstinance which I've encountered in more populated western Quebec, this was honest blank stares from kind people. And I understand it grows as you head east. Been a lifelong dream to explore out there. Since getting the Jackal and watching your videos, my horizons have expanded.

I think you'll like Gaspe then. It sound's right up your street. I haven't explored it anywhere near enough.  Given your interest and heritage, you might also like the ride along the north shore for as far as the road goes. Long stretches of empty country, punctuated by little shoreline fishing villages.  I had a blast.

Managed to sneak in two hours riding today. A customer's lovely 850 GT needed break-in miles after an engine rebuild and a bunch of other work. Nearly 50F and mostly sunny, so after lunch, off I went. Only 70 miles, but it felt good to be riding.
