Probably, as long as you don't eat the crust.  That is where the excess carbs live.

And especially if you use whole wheat dough.

Low fat anything isn't good for you.
You have the 5 basic food groups.
Dairy, vegetable, meat, bread and.....

BEER!

Pizza is essential to a healthy diet!

With pineapple, olives, meat, and cheese, all five basic food groups are represented: fruit, vegetables, grains, protein, and dairy.

So... if we drink beer with our spinach pizza then it is healthy ? Now that is good news

BEER!

It's the quantity that's the killer. Go for high quality & smaller portions.

I do prefer the pizza I came cross in the north of Italy - rectangular, 2" of filling on top of the crust, sold by the slice.

2" -- is that a depth, radius, or area measurement?

Ummmm,
Where'd all the people from the "Steel cut Oats" thread go?

I want no steel cut oats on my pizza!

And seriously, low serum cholesterol is now being associated with neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's and MS, probably due to loss of neurons mylein with low fat. We were being healthy all along! Pizza! Yay, go for it!

must be depth....you need sq ft for area :)

as far as low fat cheese...uhg

the classic Margarita .....green white and red.....basil...moz zarella and tomatoes...thin crust, wood fired oven as in the homeland...I do believe that is a relatively healthy choice....if not....then there are some things worth dying for...I personally would add homemade sausage.

one more thing....

Matt,
at least you can get a decent pizza in the PNW...famiglia's in Seattle... omg rivals the Original Rays Pizza (not really the original...that was on prince street.....see Seinfeld episode)  on 11th street and 6th avenue.
anyway Michigan pizza sucks...and it's hard to make sucky pizza.

Wrong groups!

Salt, Sugar, Fat and Alcohol.

Whole wheat crust.  Lots of veggies.  Very little or no meat and a good quality cheese.  Limit yourself to a couple of pieces.

Nutritious and delicious.

Whole grain spelt crust.
Home made red sauce
Sauteed bell pepper
Sauteed mushroom (portabella best)
Just a little onion
Goat milk cheddar...grated then infused with olive oil, a touch of water, liquid smoke

(I is on a diet low in gluten and casein)

Yep. Many years ago on the advice of my internist, I (we) went on a low fat diet because my cholesterol was climbing. After a few more years, he put me on Statins. Yes, the cholesterol dropped, but I continued to gain weight. After quite a bit of study, I went on a low carb (except for beer)  diet. I'm now 25 lbs lighter, and off of cholesterol meds.  :thumb: Maybe butter and eggs aren't all that bad for you after all.
The bread on a pizza is a killer, though. I'm a pizzaholic, and make our own pizzas with Lavash bread for crust. Chips and salsa, too. It's hard to find.

Always eat from the three main food groups.  Burgers, shakes, and fries.
That's protein and fats, dairy, and carbs.

And if you are making your own, might as well do the base as well, 50/50 mix of durum wheat & spelt. Just like the Roman army marched on. You can choose to leaven it or not.

Pizza is a flat base of water, flour, oil, salt and yeast, oven baked, on top of which you can put almost everything that's edible.
So, yes, it depends on the composition of the topping, and on how much you eat of it.

I understand there is a recipe for crust made from Cauliflower, now doesn't that sound good?
I usually use 000 wheat flour and ad a little extra gluten, just because.

I make cauliflower "mashed potatoes." Even Harley Bob the carnivore likes em. Potatoes are loaded with carbs..

How about sweet potato flour crust , topped with goat cheese, yogurt and spinach ?

You guys are aware this thread started as a piece of absurdity ? Still ... fun to read all of the comments  :thumb:

Next , is whiskey mixed with pure fruit juice considered a health drink ?

Only if combined with Motrin...but I'm pretty sure you meant Vodka with Grapefruit Juice, didn't you?

Actually was thinking Jack Daniels and Kale juice  Hey barkeep , give me a Jack and Kale

OK OK , never has whiskey passed my lips , can't overcome the smell (or the taste ) , reminds me of dirty socks soaked in raw eggs placed in a ziplock bag then left in the summer sun for about a week

So, Muzz, you're thinking over-size Anzaac biscuits with a topping?

Somehow, tomato, cheese, salami etc. would not play well with Anzac biscuits.

As an aside, last week I came out of retirement for a few days to train up the new guy that was taking my place cleaning the residential heat pumps side of the business. w3e were doing three pumps in a house for a couple that had just bought it and had been in it for a week. The pumps were eight years old and had never been looked at. They were in the room when we took one apart, and it was REAL bad! The lady took pity on us and made us a nice cup of tea, and put out a plate of fresh baked Anzac biscuits. man, were they nice! :food: :food: I don't usually eat between breakfast and lunch but I had two of those. Some of the best I have ever had. :thumb: :thumb:
