Title: Look Ma, No Hands!
Post by: JeffOlson on February 22, 2016, 10:46:33 PM
It was a beautiful day for a ride today, so I rode. Somewhere along the way, droning along at 75 or 80 with my throttle lock on (keeping up with traffic ), I remembered riding my bicycle as a youth, with no hands. Why not give it a go on my Norge? So, I did! The Norge tracked strait and true, and I could give it subtle nudges with my knees to direct its course. Of course, don't try this at home, etc. But it was fun for a few moments, and I felt a little younger...

Now get an ice cream!

Seriously, knowing that your bike has that sort of stability is a good thing, and who knows; a two hands needed on your jacket emergency may arise at any time!

Before you realize it you will be clothes-pinning playing cards to your spokes.

Look Ma, No Teeth

I'm always disappointed that the bike slows down before I can give it a proper go. Need a throttle lock I guess

A few years back in the 80's, when I worked the family farm, I rode around w/a group of guys to all the flat track races. We went down to the Peoria TT together and back. I was the only one on a Guzzi w/the rest on Japanese bikes. They finally asked me why I road one of these Italian bikes. I exclaimed " I just road 300mi w/no hands" and they asked how I can do this. I just said "That's why I ride one". Stable just goes on down the road. No need for much handlebar input, just wiggle your hips.

Yeah , very funny , although I do wish you might show some judgement when there are 20 of them and only 3 of us

Reminds me of the recent tankslapper thread.
