Winter is over and I filled the bikes with gas. As the riding season ended here in Southern Indiana in December, I started the process of draining fuel from the 7 motor vehicle in my garage. Now that I started filling them up, the gas fumes are back. Between all the engines, there is a total of 15 carburetor's. All evaporating fuel a slow rate, but enough that when the garage door is opened and entered, the fumes are noticeable.
I am concerned that hitting the light switch or garage door opener is going to cause an explosion. Any suggestions? Fuel is not leaking from any of the vehicles. I know there is a level that is explosive, reaching it can be easily reached, I'm sure. Avoiding it is not something I want to experience. I was thinking of a vent fan to keep fresh air flowing thru the building. 900 Square feet.

Vapors are heavier than air so will stick to floor. If you have a dryer there perhaps you could connect a muffin fan to the vent & set the fan on the floor.

If you have a hot water heater in that space you are playing with well, you know....many, many garage fires started by old farts cleaning parts with gasoline while vapors moved across floor and right into pilot light....YMMV

I don't heat my hot water...
Remember what drives fans...electricity.
Put a vent in the wall. Free to operate.

How about a power vent, constant run, like for a coal stove, at ground level through the wall. Maybe fit a carbon scrubber.
Or you could fit an EPA approved vapor recovery system to all your equipment. Id be willing to donate a couple of charcoal cannisters, four actually.
